So what happened to WARS in Skyrim?

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 7:18 pm

I never played his mod, too bad I was looking forward of using and seeing updates. I guess he's another modder who's selfishness got the best of him. If I was bothered by some of the users of my mod and tired of the constant updates and whatnot I would just say that I'm no longer supporting this mod and if anyone wants to contribute I give them permission to do what they like just as long you give me credit.

A modder by the name of @isoku, the creator of the "water" mod did just that.

Somtimes a mod is beyond saving, it can happen as the project grows larger it becomes far to unstable that no amount of tweaking/editing can fix it. The only thing to do then is to start from the ground up, I get the feeling WARS was at that very point. Somtimes things can not be fixed.

The communities best bet is for someone to take his general idea and start a new mod.

If I were the creator of a popular mod, I wouldn't pull it. If I didn't like the comments I was getting from certain folk, I would probably just disable comments altogether. If I got to the point where I didn't want to work on it anymore, I'd just proclaim it the final version and walk away. But I would leave it there so that those who do enjoy it can continue to do so. Why deny it to those who like it and were supportive just to spite the complainers? Doing so just seems to have the most impact on the wrong people.

I think this is a good idea. A lot of people seem to have liked this mod and some of the ideas were pretty cool, I thought. I'm sure someone will put some of these ideas back into the game at some point.

A word to the wise modder: Never take the comments of strangers personally. People type things on the internet that they would never say to your face.

I thought the mod was a good idea, but wasnt fond of the implementation. It was very resource heavy, that mod when combined with a couple others was enough to crash the game. The numbers of creatures that could spawn in some of those fights, got a wee bit out of control imo.

Personally speaking would love to see something like dfb random encounters, handle the wars in skyrim. Very neat mod, that allows for all sorts of whacky things to happen.

And here I was blaming all my random crashes on my PC rather than Wars in Skyrim (My VMEM caps out occasionally but I don't usually drop below 30 fps)... Although the Heroes and Villains really svcked, getting beat on by really high level villains at low levels was ridiculous. I'd start a new game and I'd run to Whiterun and this guy all emitting the NecroSkeleton aura would run at me and one-shot me and I was like RLY? and he was like YA RLY as I watch my carcass get tossed around before I auto-load my last save game.

I'm not sure what happened to the mod in terms of stability, I suppose its possible all those dirty edits existed because it came before the CK, and the bad edits stayed rather than starting over from scratch.

I'm using Heroes and Villains standalone for a couple of months now and not having any problems. Using the 4.6 version.

Not if you enjoy playing it. *shrugs*

I'm currently using a combo of http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9694 by Dogtown1 and http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12479 by bigmagy1981.

I think its a little much to call it "selfishness". Ultimately, what he does with his mod is his choice. He put in the time and effort to create it. I'm glad that there are modders who would leave their work up no matter what, but that is always their choice.

I do think that comments get unbelievably ridiculous at times and I am amazed at people expectations. I just got done reading someone bash an author for not meeting his release date saying that it is his responsibility to do so... That same person would probably bash the author if he never gave a release date. Sometimes people really need to just take a step back.

Well if this is the case then the Nexus mods should ban people like that instead of the bans they sometimes hand out. I hope the mods banned the troll.
