Italian. I checked out a few books from the library to touch on the language. I figure it'll be a good one to learn since I'm a chef who specializes in Italian food.
Concerning Esperanto, you may be familiar with a book in Morrowind called, "N'Gasta! Kvata! Kvakis". It is in Esperanto, and the story behind it is somewhat interesting. It seems one of the developers sought out a quick and dirty way of putting a strange sounding language in a book for the game....imo. http://www.imperial-library.info/content/mystery-ngasta-kvata-kvakis
It might not surprise you that I take every copy of N'Gasta! Kvata! Kvatis! and drop it in the nearest body of water as a superstition.
I would love to learn Samoan. It's an incredibly beautiful language. If you've ever heard someone speak in Samoan, it almost sounds like they're singing. And when you actually do sing in Samoan, it's the most amazing thing ever. All in all just a pretty language that would be practically worthless living in a place with very very few native Samoans.
We did own them too at one point. I dont see an issue with ignoring the facts. And becuase of that they speak mostly English (or is Canada more French ?) Just assuming the same for Sweden/Norway/Finland and expect most speak Swedish.
Latin is cool, but I did not choose it because I will most likely get to take it anyway. I know a little Russian, cool language, but hard to pronounce if English is your native tongue.
As a youngster I always thought about giving Japanese a try, but was discouraged by folks saying it was a waste of time just to import video games and such. So, if it was just for fun, I think I'd go for it. There have been a lot of games over the years that I can't play. That'd be fun, though I suspect learning the actual language would not be.
