What I love about this forum

Yes, there are some very clever people floating around here, and an above average level of civility .

Skyrim section is... I don't think I can find a word to describe it that wouldn't be autocensored...

Buggered three ways with rusty morning stars?

There's a reason why I only visit CD or games that have already been released for about a month.

Just like the Fallout forums.

I love this forum, too. In CD you're all but forced to think before you post. Blurting an opinion out will get you smacked up good, so to speak. :P I'm also glad to see another self-taught game coder. We have a couple threads you might want to check out in CD, one is the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1166756-unofficial-programming-thread-iii thread, the other is the game development/design thread...I couldn't find that one, unfortunately. Maybe someone else could hook you up with a link.

It's not a perfect forum, but no forum is (I'm far from perfect myself, anyway). By far, this is the most well-mannered place on the internet that I currently know of, though certain subjects would do well to draw a bit less initial criticism (Paranormal threads, Versus threads, etc). But overall, this place rocks. Out of everyone I've ever known here, there have been a grand total of two people I could not stand the sight of, and I won't name names. I don't even see them around anymore, so it's none of you. :P

And yeah, I'm completely avoiding the Skyrim boards, both because I'm skeptical of the upcoming game myself (Though really, being so worried about its quality only shows how much I love the series in general) and because of the horror stories. I'd rather not add more fuel to the fire.

This place also got me into My Little Pony, which is...incredibly strange, but I'm grateful. Believe it or not, but I've been a happier person since I've gotten into that, and if it weren't for those spammy (in a good way) threads popping up about it, I may never have given it a chance. Coming from any other group of people, I'd simply have dismissed it as some stupid fad.

Man, I dunno where I'm going with this post. Feels like I'm just rambling, so I'll stop here.

Edit: And my god, I have some kinda fetish for parentheses.

I don't know what it is about this forum that keeps me sitting in my chair refreshing it for hours on end, but I do.

CD is pretty awesome as the less desirable posters are drawn to that big insect lamp known as the Skyrim section.

Many of the threads and posts here have taught me new things of inspired me to do research by myself. On that topic I really need to start educating myself on coding in C and other languages as I as well am interested in games development. My prior experiences with Java and Basic maybe would help me along. Anyone know any good starting resources?

Whenever I open up my browser the first 4 tabs I have open: CD. Fallout 3 Hardware/Software, Oblivion Hardware/Software, Skyrim section. (And even in the Skyrim section, I only go to the Hardware/Software threads)
This place is great, starting lurking in 06, then finally made an account in 07. Learned a lot of stuff from this site, and I dont plan on leaving soon. Great community.
