What a Lovely DLC I've walked into

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:45 am

800 MS points. I spend a good few minutes emptying my inventory so I can keep my Heavy Incinerator, Remnant Armor, Shishkebob and Q-35 on Very Hard mode. When I get into the area, my caravan is ambushed and all hands are lost. Then while defending myself, crossing a bridge I kill someone and fail a quest. Then going up the river, I'm attacked by more tribals and then I fail another quest (Sorrow Tribals). The only person I meet so far is Daniel, who was Hostile on my arrival. I take the maps and just quick travel back, assuming I would be jumped and then grabbed by someone, only to walk out into the ending cutscene music so I reload a quicksave.

Then, I end up searching various caves while reloading my save. I end up meeting Joshua, only that upon entering his cave, every living being attacks me. I end up killing him. The loot from him is not worth having for someone who doesn't use guns or Crit builds.

I enter Utah with the hopes of meeting the Burned Man, only to have every Tribal and their mother shoot me. Then when I meet the only civilized people, they both try to attack me. I have no idea what the story is for this DLC, I have no idea what's going on and everyone hates me. The only relevant person in this DLC is dead without me knowing why they wanted to attack me.

Can I get a refund? Like, outside the sarcasm, this is so far a ripoff that I have to go and spend another 25 hours making another character just to go play it. I don't even want the level cap now, because this product just took a dump on me and now I want to find an explanation as to why this is happening.

It's because you killed this NPC that you were flagged as hostile for the rest of the DLC. I'd reload to a save prior to that event if you want to play through it another way.

If it's anything like Dead Money/DLC for FO3, you might have an autosave from just before you began it.

It′s kind of Funny, yes.
If you don′t pay attention, what is hard because everyone was excited to enter Zion,
then You are able to Finish the DLC in 20 min.

2 Quests will fail
Killed a lot of tribals
Never see the Burned Man
Collecting a Canyon Map
Return to Mojave with an BIG ? :whistling:

So PAY ATTENTION.....
DO NOT RUSH GUNS BLAZING INTO ZION!!!
This Could Be U --------> :gun: :flamed:

Happy Hunting

its actualy very hard not to even with useing VATs for every shot, in fact for some strange reason he was actualy hostile at the start on my first two tries without me doing anything, I ended up switching to a Vault Utility jumpsuit (I was originaly wearing http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Assassin_suit and sneeking, that may have caused that to happen )

maybe there should be a sticky for this issue, seems like a common theme to shoot that one tribal.

Could you give a little detail why this is the greatest DLC to date, and why it's so special that I should drop whatever I'm currently doing and go get it?

I can definitely see how people could mistake Follows-Chalk for an enemy. I myself was about to fire on him until I saw the non-red map thing.

I don't know if it's supposed to work like this, but when I got near the bridge, Chalk shot me. So I whipped out my Gauss Rifle, took aim, and realised that he wasn't showing up as a hostile on my compass.
I think it's because at first he's shocked that you're not a White Leg, since they never leave survivors.

But it was a close call! I guess most people see him shoot, so they shoot back.

Well, he's in the direction the bullet came from, then. Either way it's easy to see why people would shoot first and ask questions later.

I thought it was pretty obvious what had just happened. I mean he ran up and clubbed the dude from behind and then shot him in the face like five times while he was on the ground.
I can't really understand people shooting Follows-Chalk and getting mad that the game is broken any more than if they went around just murdering everyone in NCR camps and wondering why they just failed a thousand quests.

Well, there are about 8 tribals trying to kill you. It's not hard to assume Follows-Chalk is one of them, especially if you shoot from a distance. I was firing This Machine at the White Leg on the ridge as well, might as well have hit Follows-Chalk. Didn't even see him until he initiated dialogue with me.

When the giant words Quest Failed appears, at the start of something, you should know something went wrong.

To be fair, as soon as I started the DLC I had to shoot a bunch of white legs (who were shooting back from different vantage points), I crossed a bridge and another one was shooting at me...of course I open up multiple shots and hit Follows-Chalk turning him hostile. I totally understand that happening. But come on, as soon as it says quest failed I reloaded and paid attention. I really can't blame the DLC if I choose to go bezerk on anything that moves. If you want a speed run through, you can do the entire DLC in less than one hour, but you miss the best part of this DLC, exploring. Releax, take your time and try to find all the little hidden things and you will definitely get your money's worth.

It's really this simple. I killed Follows-Chalk the first time too, then I saw the text saying I failed all these quests so I just went on and killed everything I saw. Oh wait, no I reloaded and tried again.

You can't just go neanderthal on everything and bash it's brains in and then complain that it's "broken".
