Not the ones here... Unless you count the toilet, but that's usually just full of people getting sick.
I realize noticed that everything you post gets an eery aftertaste thanks to your avatar.. but yeah, I see what you mean.

I just do what I do at parties. If your going with friends, drink it up and try to be the first one to get it in. If your going by yourself just chill at the bar and hopefully get some social interactions in while your at too. Also there will be music and glowsticks many many glowsticks. I have not been to club in about a month but that is what I usually would do there.

Drink enough alcohol to where you don't care that people are watching you dance badly.

And have fun.

Hold your hands close to your chest and raise them up and down. Then start to bounce on your feet while moving from side to side.

tips:
never let go of your drink, even in going to the head. either finish it, take it with or leave it in good company. A micky is easily slipped in.

Life experience also shows the drink container and drink can be good for self-dfense :toughninja:
On the same line, keep track of your friend and as hard as it may be, be aware of your surroundings.
Then again, those weren't raves nor dance clubs...

Just don't inject the liquid from the glowsticks into your arm

Break the stick and facepaint with its contents!

Get a mini chemlight and keep it in your mouth.
Use said mini chemlight to as a mating signal to the opposite six
Beware of other mating signals; mimics can be deadly ;)

Another pointer when it comes to glowsticks:

When you crack them to get them going don't bend them too aggressively or too near your face. I was once in a queue for a club and I watched the girl in front of me bend the glowstick about an inch away from her face. It exploded into her eye and she had to leave in an ambulance.

...and expect to have drinks thrown on you, people knock into you, people get angry at you for knocking into them etc...

Don't wear white plimsolls either unless they're totally expendable, they'll come back an unpleasant colour. Same goes for jeans, I'd lean towards something dark.

If it's a decent nightclub then nobody will care how well you can dance. It's all about enjoying the music, meeting new people and having a good time. First time I ever danced in a club was on the stage at Camden Palace with a bunch of other loony ravers. I was totally self conscious at first but when I realised nobody else gave a crap I just copied what other people were doing and went with the flow, so to speak.

Don't stand around the edges of the dancefloor looking sheepish with a drink in your hand. If you want to stand around the bar go down the pub instead. Just put a smile on your face, mingle with the crowd and go for it.

Don't laugh, but if you're self conscious about dancing then you could always do a bit of secret practising at home. Put some trance on and get comfortable with the tempo of the music. Maybe find a YT vid of clubbers dancing and just copy what they're doing. Don't feel like you need to go OTT with the dance moves, I always thought the coolest looking dancers were the ones who managed to stand there and have a little boogie without their limbs thrashing around all over the place.

Highly.

Also, don't take it seriously. There is nothing more boring than standing around in a group of friends dancing politely because they're too scared of looking stupid. Challenge your friends to ridiculous dance offs where the winner is the first person to get the running man to flow seamlessly into the sprinkler. The best thing to do at clubs is hope there is an "alternative music" room where you can get the DJ to play songs like Fat Lip, One Step Closer, Last Train Home and then mosh like a complete dike.

If it is the type of venue, bring glowsticks. all you need to do is have them and some ladies will eventually come up asking for a lightshow...
when they do that, just move the lightsticks around their face with the tempo of the tunes.

ice=broken.

just have fun though.. it is a rave/ so dance

Drink. If your with mates, out drink them. If your alone, just keep drinking and you are guaranteed to pull or at least get in on some social sixual action.

Hey folks!

So, I'm going to a nightclub next weekend. Only problem is, I've never been to one before. :shakehead:

Now, if this were the movies, and I was Ryan Gosling or Bradley Cooper, I'd know exactly what to do, but it's not, and I'm not either of them (though pretty damn close ;) ) Anyway, a friend who is taking me says: "Follow my lead..." But knowing him, I don't like the way that sounds.. So I'll ask you guys instead!

The type of music they play at this particular club is stuff like Tiesto, Benassi, Guetta, etc.. I can dance to pop, hip hop, and RnB, but not to techno/house/trance/whatever this is. So basically, tell me everything there is to know about going to nightclubs/raves. Also, let's try and avoid discussing any of the more shady activities that take place, as per the forums rules.. :whistling:

Thanks in advance!

In my experience, illegal things we can't mention on these fine, upstanding boards.

There's a good reason why 75% of the posts in this thread (mine included) suggest alcohol abuse - nightclubs are rubbish.

There's nightclubs and there's nightclubs. You've got the corporate chain venues filled with the general public out on the lash. The music is typically mainly chart music and there'll be a 'smart' dress code on the door. I personally cannot stand those places, and only used them as a place to carry on drinking alcohol past closing time at the pub.

Then you've got other venues which host dance events by promoters. They typically have big name DJs playing to a large crowd who are there for the music and for the general positive friendly vibe of those sorts of events. Dress code will be extremely relaxed and alcohol probably won't be the main refreshment of choice. These are my sort of clubs. I spent many a night in them both as a paying customer and as a paid purveyor of repetitive beats.

Then you've got the lesser known, slightly seedy and unglamorous venues off the beaten track. Health and safety laws are a mere inconvenience, as are any form of functioning sewerage or respect for licensing regulations. Often good places to find really cutting edge music played by up and coming DJs and artists, or tight knit communities who love a certain genre of music, but definitely not places to flaunt anything valuable. Generally a good time to be had but with an occasional undertone of threat. I've had some amazing nights in places like this, but I've seen some messed up stuff too.

In summary, boom tish boom tish boom tish boom tish.
