What things are most important to you that you put as your ]hotkeys. Assuming that it's console, it's really only two.

I'm on PC so I have all 8

1. My most used weapon. (Varies depending on character as some of the others will)
2 & 3. Dual Weapons, because of the glitch of unassigning them, they have to be different, but these are for close/fast combat.
4. Most powerful healing spell.
5. Most powerful destruction spell/shout
6. Whirlwind Sprint
7. Alternative arrows/spell/shout.
8. Spell/Shout

Grand Healing, Ghostblade, most important. Other stuff is Incinerate, Ebony flesh, Wall of Storms, Candlelight and Bane of the Undead.

1. Sword or most used weapon.
2. Health either a spell or potions ... depending. I switch this back and forth.
3. Atronach ... the main one.
4. Shield
5. Flame spell
6. Lightning
7. Bow
8. Atronach secondary or sometime needed spell. I change this one a lot

I rarely use my two hotkeys that often, but I normally have my racial power at number 1 and my helmet at number 2. I tried to hav different spells and weapons, but I found it was easier to manage those from the favoritws menu so I didn't suddenly end up with an empty hand when I am about to cast a dual-charged spell.

I keep any common gear in my favorites, and use a mod that lets me hoykey entire sets of gear to a single key. So it varies a lot.

I got into a habit;

1 destruction spell
2 bow
3 melee weapon
4 shield/ironskin
5 interchnageable with what Im into at the time
6 Fury
7 Muffle
8 Healing

F1 Heal other
F2 Capture Soul
F4 Calm
9 Any staff have at the time
0 Conjure latest thing

F3 will be invisibility when i finally get it

I'm not very swift, so I usually have just two: Conjure Flame Atronach and Fast Healing. My Flame Atronach has saved my life so many times, I have given her a name -- Flambeau -- and I often cast flowers, mushrooms, berries, etc. into various fires in offering to her.

personally 2 (right d-pad) feels more like 1 to me so it's always my main weapon

if you have 2 identical weapons hitting the same hotkey twice will equip both..same works with spells

playing as an archer:
1-2, bow (2nd with soul trap)
3-7 shouts
8 call horse (mod)

i don't bind hotkey to spell, because i want my left hold shield, right spell. but hotkey always use left hand for spell.
so for spellcasting, i will manage manually through quick favorites. Lukcily I just need to set my right button to the spell i want to cast, while the left button set to shield only need to do 1 thing, as it will remeber it (left hand).
