Don't trade in games for cash they screw you over :P
Sell them on craigslist and hope you don't get robbed.

Since it is close to halloween try looking around for haunted houses to work at

Chances are everyone who trades in games know you get a little screwed, but don't care. And anyways, it's really not that bad if you time it right with good deals and the powerup rewards card that gives 10% extra for trading in. For example, They're going to sell that Dante's Inferno I traded in for $17.99, they gave me $8.84 for it. I'm much happier with money towards my Skyrim than a game just sitting in my ammo case i use to store my games in not being played.

I know, I know; that's why I usually just horde them. This sounds like a horrible deal...

I traded in Forza 3, Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions, Guitar Hero 5, Dante's Inferno, Just Cause 2, and SvR 2010 (aka 5 older-ish games I never play anymore) yesterday and with the 30% bonus for trading in towards Skyrim plus the 10% bonus from my powerup rewards card it was $72 in trade-in credit.

But selling them on ebay or craigslist sounds like it could take forever. I've never done that before anyway so I'd probably make a few vital mistakes.

I'm just saying that I highly doubt waiting another month or two after it releases will kill your desire to play it. I just bought Metro 2033 yesterday and it was released a year and a half ago. Sure, it wasn't huge on my radar, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Yeah, I played Oblivion about six months after it came out but that was back when gaming was a serious hobby. I've been without an Xbox for so long, I feel like I'd get over it pretty quick after I hear all the reviews and opinions from everyone on the forums. I could refuse to read those but I don't think it'd make a difference, honestly.

And what are your "expensive" tastes? Were you unable to cut back on any expenditures?

It used to be like that but I've only dipped in once this year and that $200 went towards a friend's going away party. I mean, if I could go back in time, I'd do it all over again. Skyrim's pretty important to me but it's not the most important thing in the world. I like to think I have my priorities straight.

True. This is how I look at it as well.

That would be selling them to the store, not trading them in.

I agree with that. Your friend only goes away once. They're only getting married once. Skyrim will be around for a long time. When you said expensive tastes, I thought you were getting a steak dinner twice a week or something haha.

Lol no. I just put it in quotations because my dad is dirt poor and his opinion on game prices is that they're overpriced and worthless. He likes to say that I have expensive tastes. He's none too happy about my decision to spend everything I have on a "three day get-away" either. Oh well, c'est la vie.

I'd sell all the crap ya don 't need. Go through your stuff, collect up all the cd's you don't listen to, old games you don't play, dvds you dont listen to, anything like that and sell it on kijiji and craigs list. Sell them at low prices and they'll be outa your house faster than you can imagine and then youve got money

Take out a loan and while you try to return the money why not get a part time job like a referee for a junior football match or try selling some junk you have on eBay, it always comes in handy when buying a new games.

Practice your hot dog swallowing skills, move to a New York City, forever swimming in money. (Though you will have to experience a horrible aftertaste in your mouth for the rest of the day)

So you're saying I should pre-order it first and then sell all my games?

Walmart? I don't know where ur at, but apparently the Walmart by me is paying seasonal workers $15/hr

I heard they're hiring locally but every time I put in an application, it gets ignored. :stare:

Go mow some lawns if you can't find a job. Seriously, you can get some nice money off a day of yard work. Oh yeah, also, don't buy Skyrim, and don't get your xbox fixed. Seriously, those things should be the least of your priorities right now...

My dad owns a lawn & tree care business and I work with him for no pay so this isn't really something I'd be into or have time to do for that matter. I mowed lawns in order to buy an Xbox 360 when they first came out. It took about three and a half months to get to $300.

Oh yeah, also, don't buy Skyrim, and don't get your xbox fixed. Seriously, those things should be the least of your priorities right now...

Eh, probably good advice but I've already made a commitment to this.

Don't buy Skyrim on release day, get a cheap collector's edition copy off of ebay a few months after when you can actually afford it.

There are three things I've been planning to do since January. Go to my cousin's wedding in Ohio, get my Xbox 360 fixed, and buy Skyrim. I've tried my hardest to save money but with no job this year and no one to support my "expensive" tastes, I ended up with about $417 in the bank account. I was relying on either my father or aunt to buy my flight ticket for the wedding but found out last minute, no one was going. So selflessly, maybe foolishly, I used my own money so I could be there. Family first, right? Well after I get back from the trip next sunday, I'll have a grand total of approximately twenty-one dollars.

According to Microsoft's crap policy, I have to pay a minimum of $100 to send in my box for repair. I don't even know what's wrong with it. The power cord lights up when plugged in so I think it's just the console itself. There's no green ring, red ring, or anything. It just won't turn on, period. I have no clue where else to get it checked out. On top of that, I was considering picking up Skyrim at midnight release. I'm assuming it'll take about a week for my 360 to get repaired wherever I send it. How am I going to come up with $139 by November second? Any suggestions? I think I screwed myself on this one. I'm worried if I don't play this game immediately after release, I'll lose interest. I haven't played any video games since February, afterall.

I don`t know anything about your geographical location or the local industry in your area, but most cities/towns tend to see an increase in jobs building up to Christmas. Whether it`s a local Bar/Cafe/Filling Station or Supermarket/Warehouse etc. usually Companies/Employers want extra help around this time of year, might only be temp but still well worth checking local Newspapers/Websites for vaccancies. Temp agency jobs as someone else mentioned, can be a good short term cash aid. Check out your local recruitment agencies and make an appointment to go see some of them with your C.V.

There`s always a job to be had somewhere, even if it`s just washing dishes in your local restaurant.. ;)

"But moooooooom...."
Don't know how old you are.

Get a small side job, like deliver mail or newspapers. I do that myself, delivering local newspaper to people, and the work hours are loose enough that I can go to school at the same time. Low taxes for so low pay, so I keep more than I would for higher pay. I get up to almost eight hundred € a month, for some 20 hours work a week.

If you have some games or old controllers to bring in for instore credit would help (gamestop). Beyond that do what you have to do to earn that buck. Kiss your parents [censored], return bottles, sell any collectibles you might have. Good luck man!
