What is this DiD?

Can someone explain me this sorcery? It seems like it is some kind of riddle encoded in dragon tongue...

Dead is Dead. You play the game, fall off a cliff, die and that character is gone forever.
It is a way to make it more challenging. Nothing I'd like to do, as I prefer to keep my characters.

DiD means Dead is Dead. It's when you create a new character and when you die you have to quit to the main menu and delete all the saves for that character.

It means Dead is Dead. You start a character, play until it dies, then start another. No reloading prior savegames if you loose a battle. Have to start a new character. Really ups the ante, or so I have heard. Haven't tried it myself yet, but I am somewhat intrigued by the concept.

Seems to me it would be very frustrating if you are attached to the character. Especially given that I can't remember the last time I died a warrior's death... it's usually something cliff-related.

lol

The only time I've died by falling off a cliff, it was intentional and I just wanted to jump off the cliff for fun. They're so easy to slide down, generally.

DiD sounds fun, but I don't know how far I'd get without turning the difficulty down to Novice.

I have died more times in this game than I ever did in Morrowind or Oblivion. Morrowind was because I knew where to go and where not to go, Oblivion, well, because of the Scaling.

However, this game kills me with alarming regularity. I don't think I would like a DiD playthrough. But, I do like the fact that this game still kills me with more frequency than past games did. That ups the ante enough for me.

I can imagine DiD being very frustrating in Skyrim, because it's possible for enemies to do a finishing move on you which you have no way of stopping once it starts. And those finishing moves can even happen if you still have a fair amount of health if the enemy is powerful.

Yeah, that's been a point of debate before, over whether an execution can happen before you're at low health.

I think DiD means Dive in Dairy. I never understood why people got so excited about dairy. The smell would probably be horrible after a few days, there are places dairy can get into that hard to clean out. I imagine it has to do with cheese or maybe some kind of flavored yogurt.

It seems to me that it would make you VERY attached to a DiD character. You would play a bit differently to ensure that you don't fall off cliffs and other things of that nature.

Not to get off topic but I must know: Is there NON-flavored yogurt?

Falling or diving off cliffs? How deep is the dairy? If you're going to dive into dairy, you have to check the dairy depth. Maybe some kind of icecream.

Watch my nightly stream for tips on dead is dead. I play viewer controlled so come in and tell me how to play. I stream now with a bunch of mods to make the game harder. Master difficulty vanilla was too easy for me. Most characters are no training companions smithig enchanting alchemy. Current character has a backstory written by a viewer. I stream nightly 8pm pST.

All my deaths are on www.youtube.com/katabasisgamer newest death of tarsis is pretty epic lolz

Exactly. DID is actually playing Ironman style. That is something that has been done for years. It is taken from the D&D board games. I started in FONV. The forums there got my interest. The attachment you have grows for your char. I tried to make a cookie and crazy build, so the attachment would not be as high.

What I found, was that I started RPing the character more than ever and the gaming experience grew to epic levels. It has changed the way i play for ever.

Hmm, I believe there is such a thing as plain yogurt. Maybe some kind of custard? Yellow custard? Before diving into dairy, maybe layer the custard? Yes, if you DiD you must atleast enjoy plain yogurt and layer the custard. Iced milk?

I sweat it has happened to me several times when I was at full health, with a high level (35-40ish) character who had over 350 health points and over 400 armor points. I have had bandit outlaws and those soldiers who are not really soldiers that demand 100 gold one hit my character on several different occassions. They were using ordinary steel weapons. Would have been really frustrating if I had been playing DiD. I wonder if it was some type of glitch because every time it happened, my character had been using the Master sneak perk to one hit their companions, then these guys get one hit on me and I am down, complete with decapitating animation.

The soldiers are in groups. Maybe two of them hit you at the same time and one of their hits triggered the animation. I dunno. I've never had a problem with enemy kill animations. I was always under the impression that the animation begins when a killing blow is registered. Meaning I would have died anyway.

I am one of those persons that like to really relax while playing a game, so I thought DiD would be really frustrating too. But then I decided to give it a go. And now I find it quite enjoying! For me it adds a touch of realism.
I don't get frustrated, because I don't have to reload x times on that boss fight because the boss killed me. Those are really the situations that frustrate me. Repeating a fight over and over again until I win.
And I can try out different builds, so it's not boring at all.

But I also understand what people say about getting attached to a character. I have a few characters with whom I don't play DiD, characters for which I have built backstories and I am "attached" to.
