What would you do his fists (unarmed) had a degrade meter?

Not Brass Knuckles and Power Fists, but your actual fists. I would rage. Rage like there's no tommorow.

I think I understand...What if the PC was truly unarmed and just fighting with their bare knuckles? I believe this thread is about a hypothetical situation where your character's hands actually degrade like weapons. It actually makes a lot of sense, since your character would need to heal their hands up a lot from all that damage.

yeah that would pretty much kill unarmed melee especially since fists don't do that much damage and how would you repair them? but it obviously won't happen since it's such a bad idea so no worries.

Uhm... I guess it could be possible... I mean, people break their hands fighting at my school all the time.. So I guess it could be that, but it really doesn't make much sense...

I mean really, who uses their fists in Fallout anyways? It's the single most useless weapon this side of the Chinese Pistol.

I would cut off my hands and replace them with someone elses hands or get robot hands that are harder to break, would do more damage and perhaps shoot lasers P=
(P.S. If I had the choice I would beat my enemies with one of their friends arms or legs)

Ah some people didn't get it. I meant actual degrade bar. You need to use another "Pair of Fists" on your own to repair it. LOLLOLOLOLOL

Unarmed is devastating with a high Strength and skill, and with certain perks like Iron Fist. Couple it with some of the rare unarmed weapons like the Deathclaw Fist and you can do as much damage as a shotgun blast - every time, without regards to ammo or weapon degradation. I ignored Unarmed for most of my playthroughs, but when I finally focused on it, it was awesome and very successful. Used with Sneak to get close without being shot to pieces, and you become a silent, efficient killing machine - rich too from selling all that extra ammo you never use!

In Shadow Warrior, unarmed Fist attacks were very damaging to opponents (but you took a little damage as well).

Actually, this is a fantastic idea. When fighting bear fisted, your fists should degrade in condition. When they reach zero, you begin taking health damage and breaking your limbs when you continue to punch. It's very easy to hurt yourself badly while punching someone especially if you aren't an experienced fighter. So I think the higher your unarmed skill the less your fist condition should degrade. At 100 unarmed you should have little to no degradation. The damage to your fists would heal over time.

But call it something else than degradation. And Endurance should play a role in that. amirite?

EDIT: typo

Take it one notch further, and have it so that for every 100 points degraded (and eventually healed) you get a bonus to unarmed damage from your hits. (this reflects the hardening of the fists and experience)

Both are good ideas. Higher endurance should grant you lower base degradation rate. If you don't want to think of it as degradation call it injury. Every time you throw a punch you're injuring your fist to some extent. How much that injury is depends on lots of factors.

The damage bonus from lots of punchin' should have a cap at a reasonable level though, and should be a very small bonus each time. We don't want unarmed becoming obscenely strong for no reason. It was already obscene with the paralyzing palm perk.
