When Should I Be Able To Kill A Dragon

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 10:52 pm

Yeah, if a dragon breathes fire, I think it has at least a 25% resistance to fire, and the same goes if it breaths ice/frost. So you hit them with the opposite element to inflict extra damage; they take like 25% more damage from the opposite element of what they breath.

Yep. Until I learned "dragonrend", I carried a frost bow and also a fire bow, and pretty much only used them on dragons.

The future looks grim for you... SpongeBob-born :(

It is. And my spongy-ness does not absorb any of the dragons' breath.

So far, I've had to run from every single random dragon encounter. I still only do a pixel's worth of damage when I hit a dragon with my best spell, and they easily one shot me. So right now, when I see a dragon, I have to, 'run away' like they did in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

For those who asked, I am playing on Master difficulty. I'm playing a pure mage which means I won't be using shields. I'm going to have to make my offensive power stronger and start using conjuration to summon help. For now though, it's still rhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W_u4UTvk9w...

See... I'm confused here. Because at level 7 my mage was having his ass handed to him by a dragon using apprentice level spells. So he upgraded to adept level and handed the dragon its ass right back. He had less perks in destruction than you....Playing on expert. No perks boosting damage.

What spells did you use do you remember? I'm playing on Master.

I recently started a new character, a nord warrior type...and after running around with a high level character, I have had my tail handed to me on a plate. I had forgotten just how weak characters are at the low end.

I agree. My level 46 spellsword would laugh at dragons playing on adept. Recently started a female destruction mage who is level 5 playing on expert. Girlfriend is cute as a button, but she has had her cute button handed to her on several occassions. She has problems with dragons, and has to seek cover, duck and throw firebolts and her weak shout when she can. She has good restorations skills, so she can survive with cover, but does not seem to have enough fire power to take them out. Last night she was in an epic battle against a frost dragon with Faendal. She took cover, spammed her thum and firebolt, and kept healing Faendal. The battle lasted approx 45 mins and they could only strip about 60% of the dragons health. But, the dragon could not break their cover, and after 45 mins.. finally gave up and flew away. They proceeded along their way. It was the 1st stalemate with a dragon I have experienced with a character.

I play on master with WARZONES, Wars in Skyrim, Tytantis, Deadly Dragons, everything maxed out to the hardest and i'm able to make a new character and start killing dragons no problem no matter what level, it just takes a little longer at lower levels but it's very doable

That's great. But what'd be better is if you tell us your tactics when downing dragons at very early levels. I'm interested to know.

It is in the original post. Read well.

Expert and Master aren't that different. The difference between using adept level spells and apprentice level spells was amazing.

And sorry, my original post was wrong. I was using novice level spells, and upgraded to apprentice.
