Your Dovahin!! you have wings and hover around!!!

But seriously its just one less thing to render and it is pretty much needed for the game's main platform.

This was brought up as something that needed to be added back in 2008-09 I think in a thread that said something like "Why don't I exist."

It is probably not a technical limitation, but rather no effort was going to be put into making feet and the animations when you shouldn't look down at your feet anyway

I guess it's a good thing that mirrors don't exist in Skyrim, or that would look creepy with a pair of floating hands moving around.

did you ever wonder why you cant see your feet or body in first person view.
No. The game loads seperate models when in first and third person since animation and camera position don't translate easily. The first person hud is rendered in 2d space which means adding feet would either look weird and always be too far away instead of bending to step up with the ground (Like on slopes or steps) unless they actually accounted for that which would be a large undertaking to reprogram that part of the engine.

I'm sure it's on their agenda they just have more prevelant things to do. I don't know if it's obvious to those who don't mod extensively (Or never have at all) but every game Bethesda releases has progressed leaps and bounds over the last one. They aren't the best in the world, but they do a damn good job.

You shouldn't look directly at the sun either, but it still exists in first person mode.

I thought you were the one looking for some attention? making a silly thread like this? i mean seriously you "couldn't" find other things in the game to complain about? lewl as i said i bet next time people will complain that we can't blink in 1st person mode. people like you amaze me with how you find mundane stuff to complain about.

Chronicles of Riddike had it on the original Xbox. I think it's more of a lack of effort than a tech limitation.
Trespasser, a 1997 videogame, had a female protagonist; it was possible to look at the whole body from the head perspective, including a well drawn... cleavage!

To be honest even after having it pointed out, it makes absolutely no difference at all. No TES game has ever shown the whole body and if I want to see what she looks like I'll go 3P.
Niamh is usually in the latter anyway and only in 1P when she's "busy", in which case the last thing she's going to be doing is looking at herself, and I don't think she would thank me for doing it either...

I prefer to play in first person. When moving toward the edge of a cliff to snipe some unsuspecting enemy below with a bow, it would be nice to make sure my next step is not going to leave me standing beside them... or worse.
It's also an immersion breaker.

Also, I notice that when you dual wield and sprint. In first person, both swords are upright in front of you but in third person, one is in front pointing forward and the other pointing backwards. Sprinting would make you put both hands in front so the first person view is more accurate. The third person view of sprinting is more like a sneaking move.
If you stick to one view, it's not so bad but at least get the moves right. With both in front and upright, they should move alternating up and down as your arms pump during running. I defy anyone to try to keep both elbows at 90 degrees holding two items in front of you completely immobile while trying to sprint, jogging yes, sprinting, no chance.

Niamh is an archer and I always look through her eyes when we are in combat and I can honestly say she has never fallen off of a cliff, or indeed anything as a result of not being able to see her feet.
I would suggest it's an immersion breaker for you - because it's not an immersion for everyone.

Also:
The position of your hands/arms is different in 1P and 3P all the time, just get used to it, it's probably me, but I just don't see why it's that big a deal...

The levitation act banned it ;) look it up on UESP!
But anyway, it was removed to stop people levitating over city walls and the like, which could glitch up the game.

Have you noticed you can't see your character in 1st or 3rd person when your standing in a really dark cave.

Bethesda are gradually shifting more and more emphasis onto third-person, like all the other mainstream action-RPGs out there.... so it really doesn't surprise me that first-person gameplay in Skyrim leaves a lot to be desired.

That said, the "floating camera" style of first-person really doesn't bother me as much as it bothers some people. I still feel far more immersed than I ever do in third-person.

Here, by those who brought you flashing, animated Web ads, are feet! Who says you can't do anything with them? You can look at them! Aren't they just great? Enjoy!

Although interesting enough, with water reflections turned on, you have no reflection.... omg dovahkiin's a vampire!

In all seriousness though, I would love to see 1st-person body, legs, and feet. Mirror's Edge style, that game was short, but awesome. Perhaps someone will make a mod someday...

So did the first F.E.A.R., though given that Bethesda won't give up on the Gamebryo, i wouldn't be surprised if it was a technical limitation of the engine :lmao:

Hey guys,

did you ever wonder why you cant see your feet or body in first person view.
You have two arms, a sword and a shield, magicly hovering over the ground.Where did the rest go?Wabbajacked?! :cheat:

I mean games like The Darkness or Aliens vs Predator for example had a real first person view, why not Skyrim? It's not that difficult to do.

Why do so many gamers spend so much time staring at their feet? This is not the first game I have heard people complain about this in and has got to be the biggest non-issue I have ever heard of in any game.

Thats what bothers you about 1st person? It doesnt bother you that the crosshairs which should be eye level are chest level? I hate that when playing my altmer, other altmer are looking down at me in 1st person but they are the same height in 3rd person.

I guess this is the thing that I just can't grasp (ha!) about the whole thing. Even with people saying this over and over, I just can't understand how anyone would think that. I suppose this is one of those things that you just have to write off to "different people are different."
