Where's my house?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:51 am

I am only level 3 and only began to play the game & i was running around exploring places. But I don't feel comfortable not having a house to call my own. When will I get a house? Do I just keep going threw the story?

I found you can sleep in the robots house in Goodspeed, you can also loot all his stuff and probably store items there.

I rented a hotel room in Novak, and the lady told me that I could stay as long as I like, until the seasons change (or some such bull), and she'd "charge me a flat rate". I paid her a hundred caps, and she gave me a key to a room. I'm leaving a few, unimportant but recognizable guns in there to see if I can keep coming back..

I was just about to ask about housing, but I saw you beat me to it. :)

If you head east from the graveyard of Goodsprings, you should see a cross shaped statue, and an abandoned house a short distance north. I found that made a nice abode until you found someplace a little more homely.

No containers that you can put something into should respawn, the respawn script disables adding things. Now, sometimes the items in the container will be random from a list, but it is set once you open/activate it. So, if you were to load a cell again, you might get different stuff. No, it won't be any better, maybe you get two blood bags instead of one stimpack that kind of thing.

However until we load up the geck and take a look see, I would hazard a guess that anywhere the game tells you to make yourself at home and you see blue is all yours for the pack ratting. However I would like to verify that. For sure, I would avoid any containers that indicate ownership for storage, it might transfer ownership and then you take a Karma hit for getting your stuff back.

There are also those shipping boxes, not sure how that will work in game as far as integration to how I play.

I was just going to start a thread on this.

Just rented the room myself, and was wondering the same thing.

I'm just using that abandoned gas station by the Doc now that Ringo (think that was his name) left. It has a safe where I keep my stuff and a bed too. Good enough for now.

I disagree. A secure dwelling after the apocalypse would be hard to come by, especially if you are by yourself.

I think it's just about right, if not too easy.

So, without any additional spoilers, is there any official housing or not? Anything on the Strip? That's where I want to live.

Ummm... No. Here's how it would really work.
You kill a guy living in the house you want.
Hey, I just got a new house! Woo hoo.

I just hope to find a place that I can store my ever growing collection or terribly precious crap. Maybe I'll mail it back and forth everyday or so.

Since theres three threads about this you might as well tell us.Its the spoiler section of the forums, you can use tags to be safe, and you could only state which quest to prioritize.

Do you want lots of homeless people bumming around?Have a heart sir!

*spoiler you've been warned

when you make it into the strip and enter the lucky 38 and speak to mr. house and agree to help him he gives you the presidential sweet, it's yours for the keeping you can even upgrade it to your liking, for a cost of course, also everything in the casino is lootable without consequence so take-take take it all! also...when you go into the tops casino, if you encounter benny without killing him right away he will give you a key to the presidential sweet in that casino as well so you can have two homes in the strip....just be careful, in the tops casino you CANNOT loot everything there lol

@ Zorph-

Talk to the guy in the Dinosaur gift shop; he'll give you a key to the room fo free.

TO ALL THOSE JUST STARTING-
If you head east of Goodsprings, you can find an abandoned shack within twenty seconds walking distance of the yanghtze (sp?) memorial, the big cross thing. The shack has a bed and storage areas. Great to use until you can get the Novac house.

Snip

Thank you from me...and the multitude of guests who are doubtless reading this thread.I tend to move slowly through these games, so I would not have gone to that place for a long while.

The wiki has a list of known housing.

Cheers.I just dont want to be on the wiki for fear of lapses in my willpower.I have not even looked at a list of weapons. The housing is the only thing I know about this game until I find it myself now.Hence why I stayed off the forums all this time.

I did however watch some E3 vids...I simply could not help myself. :)
