Who here has done the Oghma Infinium glitch?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 10:35 pm

I did it only for my magic based skills, since I am an assassin, I didn't feel like wasting hours grinding mage skills.

Same here.

I have because im on xbox and its the only way to level up a new character quickly and i started a altmer wizard who i want to have all magic skills asap without tedious grinding.

I play naturally with my barbarian nord though and enjoy the challenge more then going god at lvl 15

Which glitch is this

Anyway, I wont use it, grinding is boring, but at least it feels honest, and the only reason I ever grinded was to get to level 50, but that was only for the achievement, I stopped grinding as soon as i hit that mark

I had to retire my first character due to game breaking glitches before I was ready. As a result, on my second character, I used it to get my level back up to where my first was. I wasn't puttin' in another 350 hours to get there!

On a side note, there is nothing as "true fun" as your first character. Everything is so new and every encounter is fresh. Even though my second character has now grown on me, the first was a revelation.

I did! I even made a video of it:

I haven't gotten to that point on my newest character as I am taking my time.

I used it on a previous character, and didn't realize while I was doing just how many levels I had gone up (about 15 I think?). I think the idea of using such a powerful shortcut made my game less enjoyable, even more than the "it's too easy now" aspect.

My current character is trying to be a pure cloth mage, trying to avoid all shortcuts, and even no fast-travel except to dump loot after a quest because I have only Breezehome & Archmage quarters so far (what a revelation, wish I'd done it more before).
But the only skill that seems difficult to bring up is Restoration, so this is really, really tempting. And it's coming up as I'm almost finished collecting blood samples.... I will probably end up doing it more than the one time, as I want to play this character beyond 81 and keep exploring.

I've done it so that I could keep the book on my shelf, but I only actually *used* the book once. I find that I enjoy the game less when using exploits or getting OP too quickly. (Most characters will get OP eventually regardless, but I like to let it happen as it will rather than speeding it along.)

I would, however, use it if I wanted to test a build's potential without putting a full play-through into it.

from new game to:

complete main quest up till you can buy a house
leveling to 15 via exploits (attacking your buddy in the first dungeon, sneaking into a wall, balck briar mead speech glitch, etc)
gaining money to buy and furnish house (i uninstall patches and use the infinite gates of oblivion book glitch)
complete the infinium quest (sprint through the dungeon in about 10min, liars retreat for blood)
infinium glitch (repeated reading bookshelf etc.)

takes about 6 hours for me from start menu, and im sure if i tried to do it as fast as i could i could get done in under 5 hours. thats not the fastest thing in the world to do, but i think its well worth the reward considering how long it would take normally.

4-5 hours if you push it and move as fast as you can and that's doing the ogham glitch, gathering alchemy ingredients, and doing the restoration potion loop with the end result being a Lv.81.5 with equipment that has stats like 300-500 hit damage on all weapons and an armor rating of 2000+ depending on how "god like " you want to be. I like to do it cause you hit the ground running as it were, you can quest to your harts content with out having to grind out skills to make that play through feel like the class you made.
Don't get me wrong I do play legit as well which is fun and challenging in it's own right but I need at least one toon for fooling around.

I just remade my first character, Lei-Atol, the other day, and then used the glitch to get from level 15 to level 81. Now I walk around in Fur Armor like a boss.

After that, I destroyed the book, so I wouldn't get tempted to use it for the rest of the skills.
I did it once. BIG mistake
