Who here has done the Oghma Infinium glitch?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 12:49 am

I did it only for my magic based skills, since I am an assassin, I didn't feel like wasting hours grinding mage skills.
After that, I destroyed the book, so I wouldn't get tempted to use it for the rest of the skills.

Nope I didnt bother. First time I got the book I read it and put it on a shelf only for the shelf to eat it. And that was with the 1.4 patch btw that was supposed to stop that happening.

I've used it. Trying to level certain magic skills to be useful can be such a pain.

I do it when I need to. IMO, it should never be patched. It's also great to get a way to make level 81 for fun chars for a weekend when ur drunk. Trust me, level 81 with all skills 100 and unlimited shouts via fortify restoration glitch makes for some FUN times.

Oh, I use it SO MUCH. I have created about 8 different types of characters using it. Of course, its hard to keep track of which character is which, because they all have the same name, but still.

I've used it once for the fun of it. I can't believe it still works after the patch though. I might use it again.

I tried to do that, it didn't work for me. Tried several times. It was after the 1.4 patch, so I wondered if they patched the exploit.

I don't think they did, surprisingly, since I just did the glitch 4 hours ago

I put it in with the rest of the Daedric Artifacts so they can't corrupt the people of Nirn

i use it on all my toons, i create base character saves at level 81 with some money and no quests done.

i get too caught up in leveling a character rather then enjoying the quests or game, and i have always had some form "end game" so that i stop worrying about it and can just play the game
oblivion: always stopped at level 25 with only my main skills 100
Fallout 3: skillbook and special trick to have 100 in every skill and 10 in every special
Fallout new vegas: level to 30 before leaving to get more perks trick, as well as the stacking +5 to all skills x2 = all skills 100, most specials 10
skyrim: infinium book glitch.

not a single one has ruined the game, and i get absolute joy about being able to handle a situation how i want to with all skills available to me rather then being forced a certain way because i dont have the aproprate skill/perk/level/etc.

as long as these tricks remain, i will use them for my own fun. ^_^

With my first character I used the glitch. not because I knew about it or that I wanted to game the game: I simply couldn't decide what to do with the book so I put it on a shelf at the house for a few levels before I read it the first time. Then it didn't go away.

So I read it again; before I sold it to the ork in the collage.

I used it when I was already at level 75 or so. I had a few stuck skills I simply never use like alteration/conjuration/heavy armor, etc.

I've been using it. However, I now make sure to do The Man Who Cried Wolf first, then level up twice manually before using the glitch. That way you can get part two of the Wolf Queen quest. If you use the book, you can level up too much and when the courier shows up, he'll deliver a letter about the Dawnstar museum and you'll miss out on the Wolf Queen quest.

I have used it, and to be honest it really did not affect my game very much as I can still get my head chopped off if I am not careful around high-level enemies like Briarhearts or Draugr Death Overlords.

It does make some quests funny. Delivering the supplies to the greybeards, for example. The man who gives you the quest says you should only have to deal with a stray wolf or a pack of wolves, but at level 81, you'll encounter a grizzly bear and then nothing but frost trolls. Makes you wonder how that guy ever survived going up that mountain.

i used it once and got my char from 40 to 81, doesnt take as long as you think but its still annoying, once i was 81 i tested out some perks and skills that i never level up and had a little fun but it made the game boring, forgot to save befor i did the glitch and had to start a new game, pissed me off so ive never done it since.

from new game to:

complete main quest up till you can buy a house
leveling to 15 via exploits (attacking your buddy in the first dungeon, sneaking into a wall, balck briar mead speech glitch, etc)
gaining money to buy and furnish house (i uninstall patches and use the infinite gates of oblivion book glitch)
complete the infinium quest (sprint through the dungeon in about 10min, liars retreat for blood)
infinium glitch (repeated reading bookshelf etc.)

takes about 6 hours for me from start menu, and im sure if i tried to do it as fast as i could i could get done in under 5 hours. thats not the fastest thing in the world to do, but i think its well worth the reward considering how long it would take normally.

This on my Assassin chick (2nd character). Mainly to get from like 23 to 42 because I didn't feel like grinding.

And I used on my Warrior dude (1st character) after I hit 52 to recover a few wasted perk points. :P

I've never used it to get to 81 (everything is fine at 50-ish on Adept) and I'd never destroy it. Even if I was only gonna' use it once I'd do the exploit just to keep the book...it's too creepy-cool to destroy it. :o

I don't think Bethesda intends to fix the exploit - I see it as crumbs tossed to us on consoles since we can't use PC console commands for cheats and to bypass bugged quests.

Hopefully Bethesda just leaves these kinds of glitches alone. It's very helpful to the cheaters that use consoles :P

I have raised like 3 toons up to 81 with it, after that i deleted 2 of them because of how boring it made their playthroughs

I don t even know how the glitch work nor do ireally care
It is a glitch/cheat some people will use it and that is their rightful choice , other don t and that is their choice
The game isn t difficult and you don t need to be a uber lvl capped superhero to win it
Nor does it fits in my Way of RPing

Never used it. I've had a level 78 character and am now playing a level 81 character. I like playing at max level, and can completely relate to wanting to set up a character at a high level asap. If I ever started another character I might use it.

The reason i like to jump to max level is so that i can have all my perks and THEN do my favorite questlines. Because if have low sneak skill and you finish the DB, then when yu get high sneak skill you wish you could re-do the questline with that
