This song does several things to me
-Feels nostalgic
-Feels like I could cry
-When wandering Cyrodill I instantly feel as though I will fall asleep

I have often had a nap while having oblivion on in the background

Oblivion was my first love too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxuaDhXlJeU&feature=relmfu

I will never forget Vilverin. Stepping into that place was ominous, and it only got better when I left and went to Alaswell. Those are my first experiences of Oblivion.

I still play oblivion almost a much as skyrim and I enjoy it. (with mods of course) the game to me never gets old. And is deeper then skyrim.
I did just before Skyrim came out to get back into the mood. Haven't touched it since 11.11.11, but i probably will again at some point.

I'd still play Oblivion if the orcs were reskinned. I just can't stand them looking like green, pug-nosed pig people.

I haven't played Oblivion for years, but at some point I'm sure I'll want to relive the experience, for nostalgia reasons.

Oblivion is surprisingly a much different experience than Skyrim.

I do agree Oblivion's story is much deeper. You feel like a hero. Skyrim is less so because your born to be significant. Whereas in Oblivion, you earn your titles and significance.

Skyrim is a very awesome game though and improves on a lot of what Oblivion was lacking. But in a couple ways Skyrim doesn't do what Oblivion did so well.

I haven't touched Oblivion yet because I don't get enough time to play games. I have tried all the major mods and all the classes in Oblivion. I actually saved up money when I was younger so I didn't need a job for 4 months and I spent all that time playing Oblivion...lol So I've been through a lot of content.

I'm still working through Skyrim though, again, less time, more responsibilities. But I'm sure I'll head back one day; however, maybe I won't, depends on the mods that come out for Skyrim.

We all know there are modders out there that can pretty much overhaul the entire game when looking back on the quality of Oblivions modders. Maybe Skyrim will round out and make Oblivion obsolete?

Hard to say I guess. Again, being Dragonborn is not something you can mod out in my opinion. The entire game is based around it.

i've tried, but i can't go more than 10 minutes without getting utterly bored, it's just so bland compared to their other games. ok so some things were done better in oblivion. longer, more interesting quests and magic is a lot more fun to use, but that doesn't make up for it's overall generic emptiness.

i have no trouble going back to morrowind though (just started a new character the other day), or fallout 3 for that matter.

I still play Morrowind. (And yes, Oblivion too)

Mods are your friend, they can make it seem like an entirely new game.

Correction, they can make it an entirely new game.

Not me. Morrowind has better RPG mechanics and Skyrim has better technology and visuals, so I'll just stick to these two.

Oblivion was my first TES game, and my first RPG experience in fact, so I still hold it close to my heart - despite all of its shortcomings and flaws.
I still have it installed on my computer and was playing it when Skyrim came out, so I put that character on hold. Once I got tired of Skyrim (after 200+ hours! :-), I went back and played Oblivion for a while.

You know when parents say that "they love all of their children the same"? I feel like that with TES III, IV and V (haven't played anything earlier than Morrowind). I love all of these games just as much, but in slightly different ways.

I think that we are fortunate to have all of these games available to play. Whether you prefer one to the other, each can provide you with hundreds of hours of entertainment and great replayability!

By the way, while I think mods are wonderful in Oblivion and will most definitively augment your gameplay experience, I also feel that the only truly necessary mod is the Unofficial Patch. Everything else is cosmetic.
Also, if you're considering playing Oblivion for the first time, by all means get the GOTY or 5th Anniversary version, which includes the Shivering Isles; that expansion is the best thing that ever happened to that game.

Morrowind is also such a wonderful game, and I would strongly recommend the Morrowind Code Patch. The MGE (even if you don't enable the purely optional 'distant view') is also good to have.
Just the same, make sure you get the Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansions.

I think Skyrim is a terrific game despite all of its problems and flaws, and I suspect it will only get better with time, especially if you are on the PC because of all the mods, the Unofficial Patch, and surely any DLC/Expansions we get.
