Who's the real villain in Skyrim?

I say it's Brenuin he walks around Whiterun all the time saying, "I ain't done nothin'." Obvious sign of a guilty conscience if you ask me.

I've killed a lot of people, but they DID start it... most of the times... sometimes... occasionally.
I think this game should have an option to let defeated enemies live. Currently, if the enemy has low health, he just kneels and begs for mercy. As soon as his health regenerates, he starts attacking you again. I'd love it if we could really let them live and they wouldn't attack you after that (Or some would, but not all).

I started a thread about that a while ago.

I've since noticed it does sometimes work, but never seems to with bandits. I've had that random encounter thief who demands money yield a couple of times, then make some comment (about letting you off or something - I can't remember) and stop being hostile. I've also put the smackdown on that guy who randomly shows up after the sanguine quest demanding money and had him stop being hostile after yielding.

That going down on a knee stuff is useless, IMO. Now and then, I give a bandit or thief a chance if they ask for mercy or the fighting to stop. Never, ever, has one stopped fighting - they never give up - so I just kill them all if they're bandits/thiefs/etc.

You killed 1500, but think about all the innocent people you saved from those vicious bandits' raids. In the long run, you will have saved many thousands of lives!

Alduin suppose to be the main villain. He shows himself in the beginning, you battle him at the end and he even goes through trouble of appearing from time to time resurrecting other dragons and being not killable and all.
The problem with making a good villain is that each fraction (counting main quest blade/graybeards as one) has their own, and with so much content to work on they are feel too wide spread. Companions have their final boss battle in the middle of their quest line, and Collage's final boss is weaker than the dragon priests you kill in order to face him.

Ok I know the lack of NPCs is mainly due to the engine but look at it this way... Whiterun has about 70-80 NPCs... the average player will have killed maybe around 1500 human NPCs by the time they have finished the game 100%. Thats like wiping out Whiterun 21 times! And probably more than all the people the dragons have killed combined!

I don't play as a pure hero type but for those who do... think of all the caves of people who Dovahkiin slaughters; yeah they are bandits and what not but 1500 people? thats pretty insane. I think Dovahkiin can be an anti-hero at best...

PS. How many people have you killed so far? I am at 749 - 132 game days and still haven't half of the caves etc. or done a whole load of side quests... I have done the DB quests.

Whiterun has about 30-40 people tops.

I don't think there's a thousand law abiding citizens in all of skyrim ;)
