NCR wants control over New Vegas, not to protect it. They're fighting with Caesar's Legion over control of the city, the Hoover dam, power plant, etc.

The people of New Vegas is the third "major" faction, and that's either with or without Mr. House (there's a fourth faction we don't know of, so that could potentially be Mr. House's faction). That faction is basically the people who already live there (or at the very least, the fat cats in control of the Strip) trying to keep control of the their city from both forces while still running a business.

Seriously, I'll wait until the game comes out.

Sure at this time with only the previews NCR looks cooler than Caesar's Legion. Just let's see how it develops.

I'm not making that call here. That's kinda like voting for someone on a ballot who you have no idea who the hell is.

Some of you may have an idea on who your going to side with,but depending on how the game plays out ( what motives each faction as ),you may change your mind.

I'm going to play as a bad girl as my first playthrough.
Even if I find some poor woman like Agata who just wants an instrument to make her life worth living I will try to screw them over.
So since Caesar's Legion seems to be the more evil'ish one I will force myself to join them.

my first playthrough I will go all militant and join the NCR, after that, who knows?

im goin with a merc for hire player but has a heart and goes for the good of vegas-which ever faction it is

im goin to boost small guns, explosives and lockpick.

I am going follow each one for each play through.

As to who I am going to side with the first playthrough? Not sure, might just flip a coin or go with whoever appears to be nice at first. Got to be nice the first time through so I can know who to be mean too the second time through.

Ive known games to do that in the past to have different covers for the same game. When HL2 came out I ended up with a box copy with the G-man on the cover, other options I had was Freeman or Alyx but I choosed G-man still have the box somewheres around here.

Who knows maybe New Vegas could benifit from having different covers to appeal to different people.

As far as who im going to sidewith, I dont know. I want to say people of vegas but then part of me says Cesars Legion since being a slaver in FO3 wasnt that good. I never did liked how you could only enslave specific named characters and the rest had to be generic characters like raiders and talon company mercs. I would have prefered to enslave anyone which I am keeping up hope about for new vegas. If no character but 1 is unkillable then hopefully they are all enslaveable if we have that option.

Im definatly starting out with NCR just to steal thier guns and armor then im goin by myself.... i will control the mojave

CL in my 1st play-thru, and the people of Vegas in my 2nd. I beleive we can also work for House in the main quest. I'm guessing the difference from working with Mr. House or The People will be that the people want to be free from House, and House wants to keep control over his city.

People of New Vegas for my Neutral Karma playthrough, CL for my Good Karma playthrough.

EDIT: I'm hoping you can be a double-agent for the CL or NCR, you'd need to pass a Sneak and Speech check, though.

What? You realize CL is more of an evil facion. They are slavers who crucify NCR soliders.

CL crucify NCR soldiers? How dare they! I am going to have a lot more fun killing them now that I know I will be avenging my brothers! (Even though on my 2nd playthrough, I am heading right to CL to try them out )

I know all the factions are supposed to be morally gray
but if i had to choose
I'd go with NCR since they seem to be the lesser of two evils

what about the other factions

I know. That's why I'm doing it. It's gonna be one hell of a playthrough.

Well I'm going to side with CL, Kings and Powder Gangers and possibly the gentlemen at Gomorrah.

I'm waiting until I get the game, and then just seeing how it goes. I know that eventually, with different characters, I'll have sided with them all. Sounds like this game will have a pretty high replay value.

Add: I do have a soft spot for the NCR, though. "California Uber Alles"!

I get the feeling you can join them, but I doubt they're a main faction.
