Why is M'aiq a liar?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:37 pm

Why is he a 'liar'.

I understand he is a tradition in Edler Scrolls games, I encountered in him in Morrowid and Oblivion. But why is he a liar?

I came across him the other day and even though he kind of speaks in riddles, everything he speaks of is fact, so why is he a liar?

I'm not sure. Have you been to the Liar's Retreat? I don't think he is related in anyway.

Don't believe him when he tells you that he is a liar, that is just one of his lies...

M'aiq's father was called M'aiq the liar as well, as was his father.

It's a dungeon, where you find Longhammer. It's a cave full of bandits that get invaded by falmers. It's interesting to note that behind one locked door, there is an orc bandit talking about someone who is a bloody liar.

It is a TES tradition.

High priest of Peryite? The clean.

Very unpopular head of an orphanage? The kind.

His father's name was M'aiq, no liar.

It's his name. Nobody ever said that he was actually a liar. ;)

Maiq is a liar because his job in the game is to make fun of issues raised by players and critics in previous Elder scroll games or wished for in the current game. More often than not people would either outright call Bethesda liars or implicate that they were less than honest when complaining and so Maiq was born. If you can believe that. ;)

I think it's because all the things he says is a "lie"....like:
"M'aiq knows much, tells some. M'aiq knows many things others do not."..
He doesn't know
"M'aiq wishes he had a stick made out of fishies to give to you. Sadly, he does not."
Well that's an awfull lie...isn't it?
"People always enjoy a good fable. M'aiq has yet to find one, though. Perhaps one day."
Can't you stop lying?Serylious...
"I have seen dragons. Perhaps you will see a dragon. I won't say where I saw one. Perhaps I did not."
You didn't
"Werewolves? Where? Wolves? Men that are wolves? Many wolves. Everywhere. Many men. That is enough for M'aiq."
Stop Plz....

M'aiq does not understand why they call it a "nose job". Nose? Job? Job for a Nose? Why would you want your nose to get a job? What do you do when your nose leaves for work? M'aiq does not understand this.

Lol! You must admit though, something went very very wrong in the nose department when they did the models. :D

It's also worth noting that in his first appearance in Morrowind, all but two of his topics resulted in straight up lies being told. There are probably still some people searching for Im-Leet and Rolf the Uber...

Very true.

Also, a minority of the fans don't think that Bethesda has them in mind when putting things into the game. Never mind M'aiq's reference to the hallowed Fishy Stick.
