Why can dawnguard members become vampire lords?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 9:16 am

It is extremely unfair
When Harkon asks you do you want the gift of the Vampire Lord you should choose whether it is want you want or not
It is unfair that those people who refused the power get it anyway
You can't be a vampire Lord in the dawnguard just like you can't own an armoured troll as a vampire
I understand there needs to be a way for them to get all the achievements on one profile and poeple might change there mind
But it still shouldn't be allowed

More importantly; Why does it matter to you that Dawnguard members can become Vampire Lords? If anything they screw themselves over as the rest of the Dawnguard will refuse to talk to them except to give the quest to get cured.

Because I made the choice and Bethesda has given away the meaning of that choice allowing the EVIL DAWNGUARD MEMBERS to have our vampire powers

I don't really think it's fair that vampires can't get dwemer crossbows either.

I always side with the Dawnguard and while I understand the ability to become a Vampire Lord in terms of gameplay I actually do agree. I turned down being a Vampire for a reason, that decision should have more merit. I always get Serana cured so ultimately it doesnt matter to me but I can understand the complaint. Being a Vampire means you get to summon Gargoyles, have super bat powers, and whatnot. Being dawnguard means, armored trolls and dwarven crosssbows. That way there are pros and cons to both.

The majority of your choices in Skyrim have little or no impact / consequences. If you want choices to have meaning then you have to roleplay.

And in a game where there are no consequences you are able to get the power later on if you change you mind.
In the same way, if you accept the power you are able to cure yourself later.

Where is my dwarven cossbow?
Where is my dwarven crossbow?
Where are my Vampire artifacts? The same as VL can't get Dawnguard artifacts, Dawnguard doesn't get vampire arts. So why should vamps get a better crosbow and a better minion (gargoyle) if Dawnguard gets nothing from becoming a VL? Hell they loose the ability to speak with the members.

Because life isn't always fair... and if you're a vampire whom asking this you shouldn't be one to begin with.... it's a petty question.
Be glad that you are gaining more evil brothers and sisters.... don''t think black or white... it's just not evil and you don't deserve to be a vampire.

You should file a complaint to Molag Bal... see if he cares

Technically you can not.

During the MQ, they force you to become human before continuing and after if you want to buy/sell or get companions they won't let you, if I recall.

You lose them as allies if you become one AND you don't get the Vampire artifacts that make Vampire Lords OP if you side with the Dawnguard.

It seems there are actually people defending Bethesda's lack of logic on this. I agree with the OP in that Dawnguard should not get the ability.

I explained why its okay in my opinion that they did that.

Vampire sided Vampire Lords get the most out of VL, dawnguard VL get the weaker version.

My god, HELLO? you have the OPTION to become a VAMPIRE. It's a single player game so let players decide what they do and what they don't ...

It isn't about logic... what are you, a robot? It's not even about vampires VS dawnguard, because you can't even let Harkon live... it's just a quest line/adventure with consequences yes.

BTW if you decide to become a vl after dawnguard you can't buy armored trolls, but you CAN use there forge

I agree, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about Bethesda's decision to render the choices of one side meaningless.
