Why can't there be Console forums... and the Dragonborn ques

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 7:42 am

1. This should be two separate threads, seeing as the topics are totally different.

2. Really, what more do console players want??? Now they want to shut us out of the forums too?

I think Bethesda should put icons under our avatars that signify which platform we play on.

Excellent idea.

Also one in which people will still fail to notice, and still ask "So, what platform do you play on?"

Yeah, that will happen a lot in the beginning I suppose. But once everybody get to know the procedure they will know better. I've seen members who have joined the forums and already the very same day are angrily preaching to another that his thread is in the wrong forum, lol.

I remember either reading, or seeing NPCs talk about it (Greybeards??), that it is not required to be a Septim, or be related to current and/or previous rulers, to be selected as dragonborn.

I think while talking to the greybeards, you're told that the selection to be dragonborn is random - although I may not remember that correctly.

Therein lies the problem with Bethesda, they rely too heavily on modders to fix the bugs, glitches and other problems they couldn't do themselves.

They could, they just didn't.

Are you kidding, he was voiced by Sean Bean. I'm a lisbian, and I would give it up for that man. :D

You know the very few times I have had a problem that I needed help with I usually preface the problem with " I play on the 360 and I'm havieng a problem with.....". yeah I supose I could put that in my Sig, which would make it alot easier when I do have problem's. I agree a little symbol or "x-box" under the Avatar would ge a good idea.

Their IS Dialogue with the Greybeard's that explain's the "dragonborn thing", also as I posted book's with the lore.

If Martin had any heirs (legitimate or not), then there wouldn't be a Mede on the throne at all.

Highly possible that Martin died without fathering any child heir being a monk and all that, His father Uriel Septim is another story. Do you really think he stopped with only one illegitimate child. I would bet the house that there's at least one in every providence of the empire.

Responding to OP: Generally speaking, I think all later "Septims" are sparcly related, if that, to Tiber. Though they took the title "Dragonborn" from Tiber after death, they are not Dovahkiin. They never absored dragon souls or used the Thu'um (more specifically, naturaly used the Thu'um).

A huge number of games are built with gaps in their content and lots of bugs. The difference is Bethesda (along with some other companies) intentionally makes their games easy to mod and releases tools. The modding part isn't a problem. Their ambitiously complex and notoriously buggy games are a bit of a problem, but that was also the case before they started releasing mod tools.

IMO, a separate forum for console users would be less helpful to them. Many of the questions asked by console players are more easily answered by PC users who can dissect the game.

I have seen dozens of people on these forums getting snide remarks from pc elitists if you say your on console alot will say "that's what you get for getting low end skyrim" or other remarks similar to this, the of elitistm on these forums are ok but when somone post's a topic and it turns into a discussion of why you should get skyrim on pc and, that us console users are inferior to the pc players it's just plain ridiculous
I wouldn't say that console users are inferior. Just your hardware is, but that's what you get for getting low end Skyrim. Ok, enough kidding.

So again, there *is* a forum for xbox-specific problems, and I cannot imagine anything else that would require an extra forum. If you're not talking about problems, you also will not attract elitist comments and if you still do, just report them idiots.

for general discussion? Beause any time a console person post's a question the answer right away is "mod" well that's hard and... well illegal to do on consoles, so why does Bethesda not make General Discussion for Consoles? just asking?

So you want a separate forum for consolers just because you don`t like people mentioning mods? that`s it? can`t you just ignore that bit or inform others in your posts you don`t have the PC.

Do you know how many PC people get called elitist by jealouse consolers and would be called elitist just for suggesting what you suggest? I thought the reason this forum was mixed was to avoid separation which leads to elitism.

But hey if you want to segregate then fine by me, your loss.

Hint: Make a sig saying you are an Xbox or console player. That way people will always know you can`t use mods.

I spend a lot of time answering questions on these forums, when I know the answer. And because I play on PC I tend to answer questions with the PC platform in mind. I have spent hours writing up replies to questions over the years, only to discover that the OP was on a console (and didn't bother to say so) and my time was wasted.

This. A person asks a "how to?" question and you give the "how to" answer to which they reply, "no can do."

I think Bethesda should put icons under our avatars that signify which platform we play on.
Also one in which people will still fail to notice, and still ask "So, what platform do you play on?"

Lol, I keep expecting to see the user name there. When I first came here I was baffled that so many people were named "Members."

This is over three decades late. When I first started dabbling with microcomputers, as they were known in the late 70s, many people already had - wait, you guessed it - game consoles. You know, basically a box you hooked in between the antenna and the TV so you could play arcade games from cartridges. Well, well, soon we had computers that hooked up the same way, played the same games, and you could organize recipes or balance a checkbook with! At least, that was the dream...

So yeah, when we see another post about needing some DLC (took me a while to even figure out what that was) then it looks like whining. To put this another way, let's imagine a forum about a different type of appliance, and the likely conversation:

question: "How do I make a milkshake?"

answer: "Put a few scoops of ice cream, some milk and optionally fruit or flavoring (such as a syrup) and mix it in your blender."

reply to answer: "I'm on a toaster."

response to response to answer: "Sigh, why didn't you say so?"

OP: "Why doesn't (maker of toaster) make an accessory to make milkshakes? Not all of us have kitchens. It's not fair!"

Agree with your first point. The second point I don't think is really what the OP was talking about (though I could be wrong). He was asking for separate forums, which might avoid the irritating platform bickering that tends to derail any thread. However, I think other posts have shown why that isn't necessary.

I do agree with most of that. But Console's aren't really inferior, they are use specific, Console's were built to PLAY game's and that is all. Not to do all the other thing's that a computer does. The programming on a console isn't set-up to do anything else.

Either by choice or for finacial reason's people buy consoles, if it's what you have, then deal with the limitation's that come with a console. Consoles have what they have, you can't add more.

Don't wish a different general discussion on me, I know that pc player's can often help as much or more than other x-box players. IF i have a x-box specific problem then I go to that forum and ask their. I've been helped in the past by pc players and ps3 player's....why would I want to change the ability for them to help me?

You win the internet! :trophy:

Bethesda said right from the beginning that they will make a few large DLCs, which means that not every little feature request will be turned into one. Also it's not like modding is a common practice for other console games, so again I don't even know what OP expected when buying Skyrim.
