Why can't there be Console forums... and the Dragonborn ques

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:20 am

for general discussion? Beause any time a console person post's a question the answer right away is "mod" well that's hard and... well illegal to do on consoles, so why does Bethesda not make General Discussion for Consoles? just asking?

now more to the point, So. The player in Skyrim is Dragonborn... and when playing Oblivion, the blades addressed Martin as dragonborn. so that means that since only a true septim can light the dragon fires, then only the dragonborn can light the fires. So does that mean that the player in skyrim is related to Martin septim, uriel septim and even Tiber Septim himself, (that's Talos if i'm correct) and more over, that now the dragonfires are not lit due to the only dragonborn being in Skyrim? i've never beat Oblivion so i'm not sure how it ends, but i do know that the dragonfires not being lit means that the gates to oblivion can be opened again, causing mass destruction. if so, then how come we have not heard about this?

It's not illegal.

And in the end of Oblivion
Spoiler
the gates to oblivion are closed forever

And no, the dragonborn is not related to Martin.

There are more specific forums for console issues, meaning bugs. Anything that is an issue of personal taste isn't something that needs to be asked about (of course, complaining is an option), because if you use PC, you know you can mod it, and if you don't, you know you can't.

Being dragonborn means being blessed by Akatosh; it can happen to anyone, not just to the Septims. In fact, the Septims themselves were unrelated to earlier dragonborn emperors such as Reman.

Simply put, pc users also use this forum, not just console users. This forum is open to ALL USERS, not just some.

The mods section would be a place that even console users could come and discuss which mods they use and like...if Microshaft and Sony would allow such a thing, but since that isn't the case, there's no point in discussing that issue any further.

The whole situation with the Septims is more complicated than just Dragonborn. Uriel Septim wasn't Dragonborn, but he was ritually enmeshed in an oversoul stemming from the Dragonborn Tiber Septim, who in turn simply reaffirmed the Covenant made by Alessia and her spiritual son Reman.

Akatosh's intervention at the end of the Oblivion Crisis made the defence of Nirn no longer contingent on the Dragonborn (spiritual, not physical) lineage ruling over Cyrodiil. How and why exactly that happens is unclear because Oblivion's MQ svcks hairy donkey balls.

But just to be clear: Martin is not related to Tiber Septim and Tiber Septim isn't related to Reman and Reman isn't related to Alessia except for the fact that his dad had six with her ghost which was actually just Sancre Tor.

I under stand that yes, but it just seems anytime a console user comes up with a cool dlc idea, the most common response is "there's a mod for that"

I think the problem is that pc users excuse problems with the game and if console users have a beef with the game then, the forums (a pc majority forums) suggest mods because they are used to having every single problem they have with the game being catered to and fixed by mods

He failed to mention them, and it would be a fairly crucial thing to forget, given the plotline of Oblivion.

You can create a number of convoluted theories that would make your character in Skyrim a descendant of the Septim line, but you'd just be making stuff up. There's nothing in the established world of the Elder Scrolls that even suggests it.

And since Dragonborn lineage isn't passed to children, Uriel could have had a bastard child in every port and they wouldn't have been able to do what Martin did.

Notice how Martin was a priest of Akatosh? And a bloody hero? He fit the bill.

If you have an actual question/problem, just say that you're on console. I don't even understand what you would want to discuss in such a forum. General topics (lore, quests, opinions, etc)? PC users will join in anyway. Bugs? There is already a forum for it. Mods? Not gonna happen. There is nothing left to discuss...

There's a DLC topic just for this purpose: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1348297-unofficial-dlc-discussion-possible-spoilers-thread-4/page__view__findpost__p__20434836__hl__dlc__fromsearch__1

And you're correct that modding on consoles breaks the EULA, and therefore isn't possible and isn't to be discussed here.

any time a console person post's a question the answer right away is "mod"
I've been asking for that for ten years. But for the opposite reason: I play on PC.

I spend a lot of time answering questions on these forums, when I know the answer. And because I play on PC I tend to answer questions with the PC platform in mind. I have spent hours writing up replies to questions over the years, only to discover that the OP was on a console (and didn't bother to say so) and my time was wasted.

Almost as annoying as giving the wrong answer is having to ask which platform an OP is on before giving an answer. And then waiting for the answer before you can reply.

I think Bethesda should put icons under our avatars that signify which platform we play on.

Their are several places in Skyrim that you can read and/or hear about the way that the "Dragonborn" work's. reverenses to the Oblivion crisis and the gates, Martin Septim and other thing's. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Books#All_Books That's a listing of all the ingame book's. You can read them their or wait and read them ingame. But most if not all the questions about Oblivion and Dragonborn can be answered in them.

I have seen dozens of people on these forums getting snide remarks from pc elitists if you say your on console alot will say "that's what you get for getting low end skyrim" or other remarks similar to this, the of elitistm on these forums are ok but when somone post's a topic and it turns into a discussion of why you should get skyrim on pc and, that us console users are inferior to the pc players it's just plain ridiculous

Therein lies the problem with Bethesda, they rely too heavily on modders to fix the bugs, glitches and other problems they couldn't do themselves.
