Why do enemies say "Where are you?"

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:01 pm

I mean, are they expecting you to say "Oh sorry, I was hiding over here"

Enemies say some of the weirdest things.

Anyone else know of some weird stuff you've heard?

Haven`t you ever said `Where are you?` When looking for something, even something that can`t possibly hear you?

I also remember trying to pick up a piece of bread of the table at Gerdur's house.

She yelled "Put that down"

I was like....sorry... :sadvaultboy:

Because they are waiting for you to drop down from the ceiling and say, "Here!" In your best Batman voice.

I did this too, but it was at Riverwood Trader and I was swinging the shopkeeper's sister's dead body in front of his eyes. All he said was "Put that down!"

Because they want you to know that they're at a disadvantage, not knowing where you're hiding. It's an enemy courtesy.

People actually do say things like "Where are you?" when they think of themselves as superior, not being afraid of you and when they want you to know that they are out looking for you. Think of someone, who plays hide'n'seek with little children.

I do like it when they say it, because I love to respond to it in a mature and advlt way. Takes only seconds before they squirm for their lives.

I made a Khajiit and ran into a group of bandits all wearing fur and one of them was also a Khajiit. One of them said "You'll make a fine rug, cat!" to me and thought the Khajiit bandit must be offended by this, surely? But a creature with fur wearing fur is just weird.

They say "Where are you" because they are wondering where you are.

It's not unusual, even in real life. Just thinking out loud (as Hectic says).

Reminds me of a similar but funnier line from Raiders (bandits) in Fallout 3. If they have trouble killing you they say something like "would you just stand still!"

They say things like that in Skyrim too - "Would you just die already!"

Not a weird behaviour at all; they expect you to show yourself and fight openly.

"I yield! Mercy!"

If you try to do the good thing they will get up and attack again, so their next line is:

"Not like this!", unless they gut you first of course.

Meanwhile Mjoll is talking about how she loves Skyrim.

Seems pretty normal to me. Better question to ask would be "Why does everyone nitpick over every little thing in this game?"
