Why the silence? Why have we heard no news of DLC?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 12:30 pm

Well a little more than a month from release, we heard that the Xbox version was getting DLC a month prior to all other platforms.

Well here we are, almost 2 months after release, it's almost January, and not even a whisper regarding any DLC at all.

Has Bethesda changed their plan? Is the Xbox no longer getting exclusive DLC a month before? It just seems like we would have heard SOMETHING.

Or, could this mean that they are working on a very large expansion style DLC?

Yeah um, a lot of the world (including where Bethesda is located), is currently in holiday season. You realize last weekend was Christmas right? Tomorrow is New Years Day.

....Seriously?

I know right? Its been a whole damn two months.
They are robots! They get working on DLC straight away, just after finishing the game they have been working on for the past 3 years.

WTF?! SERIOUSLY BETHERSDA?! ITS NOT LIKE THEY ARE SPENDING TIME WITH THEIR FAMILY FOR THE HOLIDAYS?!

SERIOUSLLLYYYY BETHESDA?!?!?!?!

The longer it takes before they announce it, the better. I'd rather have a huge expansion with lots of content than some "stressed to release-date" DLC.

They need to fix the bugs and glitches before worrying about their expansions.

Plus I'm sure with all the bugs the game is having that is making it a bare to play for some people beth is trying to make sure that they have a handle on those so that the DLC doesn't compound the problem even more. Basically get the main game playing well for almost everyone then go to DLC.

Just give it some time, I think they'll release something about DLC at the end of January or early February.

My game didn't need fixing to begin with. /shrug

No quest bugs, no texture glitches, nothing. The patches are what wrecked my game.

Agreed. My game ran flawlessly on release. Was far more stable then Fallout 3, New Vegas and Oblivion.

Up until the first official patch was released I had a grand total of one CTD in close to 100 hours of play. Didn't run into any quest bugs either.

I think the least they could do is update the "what we're working on" sticky to let us know, even if just to say that they are working on dlc.

lol what? OP, im sure you did not do 100% of the quests or all the trophies/achievs to say you need DLC, not to mention todd said that DLCs wont come out so frequently but have less but larger DLC packs instead, be patient

They need to fix the bugs and glitches before worrying about their expansions.

tell that to blizzard, a large scale game can never have 100% 0 glitches cuz once you fix one bug 100 more pop up, and since patches only need a few people having DLC in the works at the same time as a small group of devs fix patches aint far from reality

Skyrim is a 300 hour game. Near 2 months have passed.
2 months = 60 days (average 30 days per month)
60 days = 1440 hours

By those figures, I could have completed Skyrim 4.8 times in its entirety.

Your math is a bit flawed, Ares, as ive put in over 200 hours thus far, and have done probably 90% of the quest.

If you read the Bethblog, you'll see that they're planning to fix code problems exclusively until January. Some time in January they'll start fixing game data problems. I would imagine that once they get some of the game data fixed, they'll move resources over to the DLC team and then we'll start hearing things. I have no evidence, but I'm positive they've got a solid plan for the first DLC by now.

.... sorry you misunderstand. im over 150 hours without the main quest and only 1 guild done im lvl 45 aswell. not only am i going to do all the quests and achiev max level on one toon im also replaying the game the same way. so for me i have plenty to do until a DLC is released.

plus your math is wrong at two months with an average play time of 3 hours a night for 30 days straight thats 180 hours clocked in, give or take weekends where you play all day or times where your out and dont play at all. plus 300 was only stated to"give a sense of feel" for how large the game is, by no means is how long the game actually is, by the time im done my 1 toon im sure ill have over 300 hours put in, even my oblivion save is over 400 and prob only 25%ish done.

Maybe some of the DLC is spoilerific.
Might need to give most people the opportunity to play the game.
And a number of people might have gotten the game for the holidays.

They are still in the period where thousands are buying the plain game for the holidays. No need to start tempting people with DLC yet. Not to mention they put out three patches and are probably all drunk right at this second.

Bethesda isn't a collective force like the Borg.

There are separate teams that work on different things. Some are working on the patch, some are working on DLC, and some are working on the next game.
