It is really surprising to me that Shadowmere gets called a 'he'.
Its not.
It lacks parts to thereof.

At least with the new horse from dawnguard, it doesn't matter if it had a dike it was burned off.

I said in the Giants thread that I didn't think that male and female giants would look the same but in terms of the Falmer I'd actually be more inclined to the idea.

Not even the races of tamriel have an actual gender. Some are just born with more underwear than others. Which begs the question, how are they born? Some sort of asixual budding?

They all turned into Wispmothers. Now the Falmer have to reproduce as a plant-like species. They grow from the ground.

But chimps do have briasts. Smaller than human briasts perhaps but that's probably down to sixual selections or something like that, with male humans picking females that had larger briasts more often than not, whereas chimps weren't really bothered.

I think Merari was being ironic. Of course briasts are primarly for feeding. In many cultures they are not even viewed as particularly sixy.

As for the female Falmers, there is an obvious (but boring) answer: the developers were lazy (and possibly biased enough to view males as the rule and females as the exception - nothing strange there, a lot of people do).

I like the idea that the Falmers are not just human-eating torturers and slave-keepers, but also misogynic, big time.

(Hmm. Unsettling thought: They have human, female slaves.)

There actually are, but females are discriminated against in the world of the Falmer, so they hide their genitalia (yes, it's reverse for them... the Dwemer were really screwed up individuals).

Ugly and twisted as they are, some female traits should be carried over even in the evolution from Snow Elves to Falmers. The presence of a female Falmer armor suggests that, at a certain point, females were considered in the game, otherwise Bethesda would jhave just made their clothing not available to players, like Tsun's armor or the executioner robes.

But they growl like male Falmers and try to kill you. You can marry them but you have to keep them tied up on the floor. When you come home you can enter into dialogue with them as you would do with an ordinary wife except, instead of them speaking, they just bark and growl at you. They could add a mini-game where you throw cookies into her mouth to feed her. Or maybe even a mini-game where you toss goblets at her head until she passes out.

I wonder if the Falmer females are like the Locust females from Gears of War.. That would make an interesting questline taking down behemoth Falmer queens in their underground lairs.
