Why is there no multiplayer?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 9:59 am

check out my sig

No matter how much co-operation is involved being level 10 in a level 50 world will break the game for that level 10 player.

It would make it very hard , I agree, but I dont agree it would break the game, dont forget you could trade stuff with your friend for example.
And why would I care about your sig, I never ever care about people sigs, its normaly some pseudo intelectual quote they copy pasted in the internetz.

edit. To further clarifie, I couldn't care less betheseda main focus is a Single player experience, more power to them, its theire product design, theres a big diference in "demanding" a change, and being ok with some people finding an alternative to play theire own games.

No if you feel this thread doesnt belong in this section of the forums you should report it to a mod, see what I did there?

And maybe people should read actual posts instead of silly sigs, seriously 360 people should make a manifesto, called the rights of 360 users,"we are human too"

You want multiplayer or co-op?

GO BACK TO COD OR WOW!

Leave TES and FO to true fans of the genre.

No, but you mentioning a mod is off topic I'd say about 90% of the time a mod is mentioned it is off topic and I'm tired of it.
If there was a Mac port for this game I would mod like nobodies business <-(see what I did there?)

Furthermore, as I said before the scaling system would greatly hinder multi-player. I'm not saying it's impossible to make an offline multi-player for this game. I'm just saying, as many have said before me, that It would require a large overhaul of both the scaling system and many other gameplay/role-play systems to make it work. Which would greatly effect the single-player experience.

I saw what you did... you made yourself look like an idiot.

This thread is neither a Cheat, a hint, or any type of Spoiler. It's guaranteed to get moved.

And I agree with everyone except the OP. The Elder Scrolls would be worthless if they added multi-player. It is perfect as a single-player game, if you want multi-player, go play WoW with the rest of the kids in your middle school class. Leave the Elder Scrolls alone.

Is there another? No, don't tell me.

I know there are just many people who prefer co-op and PvP. Borderlands did it. I play far more solo in BL than co-op. The BL concept could work for TES but I'm OK without. They would really have to go back to the drawing board to implement co-op.

I look like an idiot because person A) doesnt want me to mention mods, because that would be offtopic, even tough he so politly reminded me that I shouldnt speak of mods to him, because he is a 360 user, (explicit on is sig)
b) Im not a mod and it is not my job to police threads in this forums, so intopic with the thread I mentioned a mod, that exists, offcourse it may be offtopic with forum section, but you have no right to call me a idiot for giving informatuion about op post, even if in the wrong forum section, unless you are a forum moderator, and that would be in the rules that it is forbiden to duiscuss a thread when it is misplaced in the wrong section.
c) thanks for calling me a idiot.

Didn't feel like reading the whole thread due to severe laziness and apathy.

I'm not 100% for the idea of multiplayer, but a way to make it work?

Split screen co-op where second player can take control of your companion and fight with you. Whomever the companion is, that's who your friend plays as. Important NPCs ignore them, yet they can still interact with shops and whatnot. Cannot fast travel and always go where the dragonborn goes. Pretty much nothing changes...except you can control the companion.

The idea would need massive work and isn't worth it, but it'd be usable.

If this were mentioned already, I apologize, but like I said, I didn't care enough to read the entire thread because it bored me and I have massive travelling to do to sell my wares to reach 100,000 gold :P

@Vohann I'd like to add that even though I get slightly annoyed at the mention of mods I must commend the fact that you at least posted a link to the mod for those interested.

A decent idea, but first to really make this work they would need to give us more control over our followers in general i.e. allowing for followers to (somehow) level up. That way your co-op buddy gets to experience this aspect as well.

That was my only purpose all along, i read op, do a google search find the mod and reply on the thread, bashing op because he isnt in the right forum section, and because oh noes someone has a diferent "opinion then me" just feels like a low blow to me, and I dont even care/want multiplayer in skyrim.

I would love this addition even if it didn't lead to any form of co-op

Because you'd be curb-stomped by people who abuse the smithing/enchantment exploits to be all-powerful. While it would be nice to team up with people to take down dragons, you'd be more likely to run into "griefers" who would ruin your experience.

Exactly.

The last thing I want is to have CoD spawn campers waiting to one-shot you with a bow that has been fortified and enchanted to all hell as soon as you enter the PvP server. Sure, lots of fun there...

But Really, why wouldn't they add that?

Multiple isn't for everyone. I for one wouldnt have bought it if it was.

Complaining about the lack of multiplayer in an elder scrolls game is like walking into a mcdonalds and saying "wtf, no pizza?". This series is, and always has been, focused on an indepth and engrossing single player experience.

If thats not what you are looking for in a video game, you have plenty of other products to choose from. But please do not demand that someone change their product to suit an audience other than their target audience. With no disrespect intended, that is quite stupid.

PvP in Skyrim would be hilariously bad. Everybody would be one shot killing each other with Legendary Daedric Bows and Swords from Invisibility.

You know, Bethesda really should of put like a co-op compaign in the game, or atleast online PvP. I mean come on. I really enjoy this game and the rest of the elder scrolls games, but seriously. Playing ohur after hour by yourself talking to the game get kind of irritating sometimes. Because You sit there hoping that you could have someone that could help you kill dragons AND talk to you. But Really, why wouldn't they add that?
No. My biggest beef with Bethesda was when they ported TES to the XBOX/PS3 console gaming market. It introduced a whole new breed of FPS gamer who is completely obssessed with the social networking aspects of game play, leveling up, maxing stats, enjoy superficial and low replay value etc. etc. The essence of what character development means to enhancing an RPG is completely lost on these folks.

Although I suspect much of the "I beat the game in 72 hours!", and "bored with Skyrim" and "Skyrim svcks cuz you can't max stats/level" threads have a lot to do with a chronological factor than advances in gaming technology.

It would appear the TES gaming genre isn't for you. Go play WoW or Warhammer---assuming you can stomach their somewhat "dated" graphics that is.....

And if those graphics make you want to puke, there's always that POS SRTT

Why would it ruin it?
i prefer single player, just making something multi player doesn't necessarily = better..it could make it worse....there's lots of things they wouldn't be able to do if it was mutli player...it would prob have a more cartoon look like wow warcraft...also WoW nerfs their games pretty bad cause of people complaining its too hard or too easy etc..so i don't need any of that either...its fine how it is.
