WHY were the raspy Dunmer voice taken out... AGAIN?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 1:16 pm

I think they add the raspy voice in the gameplay previews and remove it in the full game to make the Morrowind fans mad.

The same way they promised an economy, people would take up dead shopkeepers places, destroy the riverwood mill, like all the other crap Beth pulls just to trick you?

Because every gender of one race doesn't need to have the same voice (Yes I know in past games they did but that is fixed now thankfully.) , and certainly not the same voice from a past game just to make a minority of fans happy.

I always figured that the reason the Dunmer had a raspy voice in Morrowind was because of all of the ash and such.

well wasnt the reason that dunmer voices were raspy were the ash from the volcanos in Morrowind, so why would it make sense that they have raspy voices in Skyrim that has no volcanoes

No the ash wouldn't really be the reasons because the Females would have something similar, and they don't. besides they'd be dead no?

I don't know why they promo'd that voice in the first place, its not like new people would even get the significance. why they went with it in the demo and then took it out in the long run really makes no sense.

The guy who did the demo voice was not Jeff Baker. It sounds like someone imitating him, but it's clearly not him.

On a second thought you may be right, his pitch is a little higher than Baker's.

I do find Skyrim's Dunmer Accents kinda funny, I expect them to say: G'day Mate.

Its an English accent (there are many), not Australian. Kind of surprised Jeff Baker didn't get the job for Skyrim since they picked him up (to everyone's delight) for The Shivering Isles expansion as the voice of the male Golden Saints and Dark Seducers.

I personally prefer it now over the voice of the ones in MW. Their voices were so rough they could use them as sandpaper

Could it be that Jeffs voice simply cannot handle the oceans of dialog needed when every single line need voice acting?

Oh, this thread again. Yes, I loved the raspy Dunmer voice too, and the Australian accent annoys me to no end, but there really isn't anything we can do about it.

If Jeff couldn't handle that much, then they could make his voice for only some Dark Elf characters. I mean, a race does no longer have only 1 voice actor anymore.

@FreakLore444: Yes, I know. I just wanna know why. Imo he's the best voice actor there is for Dark Elves and fits them perfectly. It would be nice to know why they keep take him out since Oblivion.

Its an American voice actor doing a very bad Southeast England accent.

I actually like the accent, granted it doesn't sound English at all but I don't think sounding English was what was intended.

doesn t sound like him, I may be wrong, but I played morrowind a lot

if it s demo stuff, could just be someone in the office doing the voice, and maybe immitating him on purpose

The terrible English accent needs to go, at the very least.

lol the Dunmers always remind me of Keanu Reeves in Dracula, he struggled to sound british and did a terrible job.

Yeah, same here I was looking forward to that as well. I noticed another character, Hod from Riverwood, had his voice redone as well. I guess they found a couple of Scandanavian actors at the last minute and excitedly redid a lot of the voicework without really asking themselves if it was necessary.

I can't think why they'd redo the dark elf voice though.

I personally think they sounded horrible in morrowind and just as bad in oblivion (in a different way).

But in Skyrim, I haven't noticed the dark elf voice. I guess it fits perfectly if it doesn't make me go "wooo hey, wtf was that?"

Yea, I miss the voice too. You don`t notice until they`re gone.

I also think Orcs still don`t sound deep enough in their voices either.

Part of me died when I went into Bleak Falls Barrow for the first time and heard "Geht Meh dawn Geht meh dawn!"

It's really annoying how they've falsely advertised this not only ONCE but TWICE. The only thing I hate more about Skyrim is the pathetically small questlines.

And why the hell are the voices entirely inconsistent for Imperials and Bretons? Doc Michell AND Fenris are both Imperials?!

I'm also upset about this, there should really be an explanation. Did the voice actors get sore throats or something?
A second time disappointment, I won't hold my breath in any future TES titles regarding this anymore.
