Why Do you Play Skyrim?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:51 am

Was thinking about why I play Skyrim and there are a lot of reasons. But moreso than any one reason I really enjoy the Adventure. I love how even the random dungeons are uniquely designed. From a Game Development point of view, this is incredible attention to detail. This makes adventuring what it is. You never know what you're going to find.

I also enjoy the random books. I have a collection of books in my Skyrim house and I read them from time to time, even reread some when I'm bored. Great short stories.

The battle is alright, but I am always dissapointed when the Dragon I'm fighting flies off to kill everything in the area and not focus on me.

The difficulty of the game is odd too, because even if you set it on Master I find that the enemy just has more attack damage and more health. This becomes a game of, find a place they cannot attack you from, and hit them with ranged. I play a stealth ranged character so I'm squishy. Dunno how this pans out with a melee fighter.

And I guess I can say this for all of us, we all play for the mods too. This game has an infinite lifespan just because of it. So other than mods, why do you play Skyrim?

To have fun of course. And to get away from the stresses of school teachers and homework. Skyrim is a great game to just immerse yourself. Playing side by side with a friend is always good too

The main reason is because it's the best WRPG on the PS3. I loved Morrowind to death so had no choice but to keep playing every TES game on a console in order to support the whole publishing WRPGS on console thing.

I support the genre in general, and wish consoles got more love. I'll buy the Witcher 2 XBOX360 just to support the devs. I don't even really like the witcher series that much.

I also bought Divinity II, Risen, Two Worlds, Sacred 2 etc.. on consoles.

It makes me a cooler uncle in the eyes of my 20-odd nephews and nieces. :) PLus I've loved the fantasy genre most my life and playing fantasy video games is a natural extension of that.

Because the Elder Scrolls series is one of the very few things in this too short and painful existence that brings me any happiness, and sustains my dying inspiration.

But I don't play much anymore...

Because I like adventuring and roleplaying. Also the game is fun, exciting, and challenging with mods. I found the unmodded game boring.

Because it's Elder Scrolls and that's reason enough for me. Argonians ftw.
And this reason - TES world/lore, and Argonians.

The adventure, the gamechanging impact a new character has (from necromage to thief is a huge gamechanger), so many ways to play the game.

(BTW this is my first TES game, I'm a fan already).

I started skyrim because I had good experience with Oblivion and wanted to see the next game of the series.
Now I have the aim to play Morrowind too.
I enjoy the games, they are really good RPG and I love to made games deeper with mods - and the modding community is full of ideas...

Because if I didn't access the portal at least once a day I would miss Niamh.
And I would never know what she was doing, and someone has to keep an eye on her.

I play Skyrim because...

no,wait...of course everyone would have his good reasons to play it

Apart from joke i play it essentially for fun; and i think that in this regard this entertainment product has largely succeeded.

I play Skyrim to escape from the nerve-wrecking reality and become someone else completely, for a short period of time. And of course, to have fun! :)

The more I play, the more I love it. Instead of getting bored with it, I am increasingly pleased! Why do I play? The same reason I like to play any game. It keeps my mind occupied, and relaxes me. "I" am a powerful, adventuras character with no limits (in game!). I love RPG's, and I love other games as well.

Skyrim has just surpassed Morrowind as my favorite game of all time. Aside from the very few bugs and glitches I've encountered (and I'm on PS3), I really love the game. The scenery, the music, the stories and the artwork.

Thank you, Bethesda.

I play because it is a great escape.

I have tried other games, but not being a hard-core gamer, or exceptionally gifted with console controls, they usually just left me frustrated.

Skyrim just grabbed me from the start, and, at Novice, it was easy enough to keep me interested. I eventually worked up to Expert.

I have been a sic-fi, and fantasy buff from my teens, and now, well into my fifties, I can reach back and actually role-play a little, like the characters I had read about through the years. It is pretty immersive - not perfect - what is, entertaining - for the most part, and graphically pretty good as well. When the bugs don't bite its a bucketload of fun. There are three of us where I work that are pretty addicted to it. At stressful jobs, slaying a dragon, clearing out Draugrs, saving people.... takes the edge off!

Well, these are things that you can do even in real life -like fishing, hunting or cook..

no, wait again...even all of those are already implemented in the game...
but we have to fish with our hands and cooking always the same dishes when fishing rods and even a book called "Uncommon Taste" are available :bunny:

Because its so damn vast and I am still finding new locations and quests etc even after over 100 hours of gameplay. Skyrim is so detailed in every aspect, graphics and gameplay. I want to keep boosting my character over and over. Only thing I'm tired of is the repetitive NPC speech.
