IMO none really...I say it you really want to pick then if you're a Nord then go with stormcloaks if you're a non-Nord then Empire.

I chose Imperials. Of course, either one will set back the Thalmor's plans.

And at the end of the day that is all that matters.
Personally I prefer the Empire as well.

Guns and bullets for sale! Get them now to shoot those who challange your opinion! 50% off! Well now that is begun & is out of the way..

I prefer to go with neither, or the one who offers the most coin in the process. To me it is all business, to them life & death. It would be best to go with what your gut tells you due to the pros & cons of both being quite.. equal from a non clouded view point.

Depends. Are you a true son of Skyrim?

Personally, the emperor is a bust. There's a certain quest that even illustrates his un-importance. I'd rather have had the story involve taking over the stormcloaks, throwing out the empire from Skyrim and then claiming high king. You are the dragonborn. The legitimate air to the throne (of the empire really). All dragonborn were emperors. Need to get their Conan on in this one. I want to see the lamentations of their women.

No, just because you are dragonborn does not mean you are the heir to the throne. You are just another powerful individual just like the Nerevarine, Champion of Cyrodiil and the Eternal Champion who are destined to change the future.

That is hard, as both sides are full of [censored].

I myself on the PC went with the Stormcloaks while on the 360 I went with the Empire.

I found the Empire more fun myself.

The Connection with the rulers of the Empire was thus there from the beginning - only those of the dragon blood were able to wear the Amulet of Kings and light the Dragonfires. All the legitimate rulers of the Empire have been Dragonborn - the Emperors and Emperesses of the first Cyrodilic Empire founded by Alessia; Reman Cyrodiil and his heirs; and of course Tiber Septim and his heirs, down to our current Emperor, His Majesty Pelagius IV.

The emperor is a bust. You even _________ him. You are the dragonborn. If there's anyone fit to rule, you're it.

Though when you think about it, your character could use that to take the throne. Your character could use it to make a connection between you and the septims. Thus creating a massive civil war that somehow makes you Emperor and the Thalmor very weak.

I recommend doing neither until they actually fix that questline. It is a never-ending font of frustration.

If you don't support the Empire's decision to ban the worship of the revered Talos because they're too weak to refute the Thalmor... join the Stormcloaks.

If you want to maintain the Empire's remaining strength and wait for the possible moment when you can finally push the Thalmor back to Summerset Isle... join the Imperial Legion.

Spoiler
No matter what, you'll eventually have to pick a side and support them.

I have tried to stay out of the civil war so far but I am much more allied to the Imperials. Even in talks between them I'd say Imperials mean for a better way of life.

Its the Thalmor that are the problem and not the Imperials. The Stormcloaks would have done better directing all their attacks against the Thalmor and kicking their presence out of Skyrim. That way they couldn't monitor Talos Worship.

Compare the Imperial Jarl compared to the Stormcloak's choice of Jarl. That proves it for me. So far I think Urlric is just out for power. He isn't out for a better Skyrim. That's just a front he uses to get the people's backing.

Anyone should join the Empire, except a Thalmor-sympathetic Altmer.

As the outcome pretty much means or change nothing in the game the only true things that separate both side is the armor you get at the end : do you want tullius armor or ulfric's ?

Let me answer that with a question:

Why would you join the people who tried to behead you for no reason?

I got Tullius armor and threw it away right away,my own regular! Orcish heavy armor was loads better, so meh to the end-of-quest reward in that way :(
