Wild werewolves confirmed or not?

Now, how about Icelandic and Finnish?

Here in Finland, wolves are called "susi" or "hukka", the latter being the older form. Our language is a bit different from our neighbors. Well, it is actually from completely another family of language...

I haven't seen any in the wild so far. Just the cage one(s)... One of whom gave me a good run for my money. And I thought he'd be happy a fellow werewolf freed him from his cage! :P

Finnish Hungarian if I recall correctly.
Same as Sami.
But there's still Icelandic. That is as close as we get to Old Norse today and they might have some word for it.
But I've seen the word Kodlak before, I swear it.

Maybe it's Eastern European?

From what I understand, they are in the master file, but for some reason, they don't spawn. I've sunk hundreds upon hundreds of hours into Skyrim since Nov 11th, and the only transformed werewolf I've seen in the wild was
Spoiler
Sinding.

It's kind of disappointing, because it makes Lycanthropy feel like a
Spoiler
Companions-Only
deal, minus the two aforementioned execptions.

It's probably worth pointing out that I don't fast travel, so it's not like I bounce around to cities or dungeons only, and expected to see a Werewolf there, I spend a great deal of time on and off the roads.
sooooo it might be a bug that they arent there? interesting...

Hey! Be nice. Sinding was hungry.

Varg means wolf in Norwegian. And Farkas means wolf, as does Vilkas. And Kodlak is werewolf in Scandenavian if I'm not mistaken. So it makes sense at least for the names to be in there.

Thanks.
Nope :) Werewolf in swedish is at least varulv,Think norwegians say the same, also we swedes say Varg for wolf too.
And sometime just Ulv for wolf

Given how volatile Radiant Story is, it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe you need just the right flags to cause them to spawn, it would explain why some people report encountering a werewolf, and some people don't.

For example, none of my friends ever encountered the "Boethia Cultist" encounter that normally starts the Ebony Mail quest, yet for me, it seems like I can be at the tippy-top of High Hrothgar, and next thing you know, I hear a Dark Elf screaming "HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!" and come charging at me with an axe.

I wish I was randomly attacked by werewolves. I haven't done the Companions quest yet so I haven't seen any werewolf content nor have I done that one quest in Falkreath. If they were supposed to, I hope they fix it soon and I hope it's a rarer occurence and a tough fight everytime.

As stated, they are in the game files, though I have never seen one in the wild. I spawned a Werewolf Vargr using the console, and it was pretty damn tough to kill. Interestingly, it dropped an Ebony cuirass.

On an off chance that you are a PC user, it has been fixed in the Wars in Skyrim mod.

Yes if only I was fortunate enough to have an awesome PC like most of the people on this forum. My PS3 is cool.... but it was also the runner - up. And sometimes I look at mods just to dream a little and Wars in Skyrim was the first one I really wanted. ANYWAY if it's supposed to be in the stock game I want Bethseda to fix that pronto.

If Werewolves become common place in the wild at night I am hanging up my tent and will start to loiter around the service entrances to castles in the hope they'll start to feed me and eventualy, adopt me ^_^

Varg is Swedish for wolf, Farkas is Hungarian for wolf and Vilkas is Lithuanian for wolf. Don't know about Kodlak, but definitely not Scandinavian.

So this has been bugging me for awhile. Not once had I encountered these wild werewolves. Anynone here have? I thought it was confirmed there were no wild werewolves aside from those in the cages.

They appear only at night, and can be detected by an unusually loud wolf howl."-UESP wiki.

I've read it too, but it never happened to me in 400 hours... must be a urban legend.

I meet sometimes a wild werewolf in the forest near the coast of Dawnstar at night and in the swamps north of Morthal. I think they spawn as random encounter though, after you have reached level 20-30. In fact I've always found them battling with a bear and a snow sabrecat.
