Wild werewolves confirmed or not?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 3:07 pm

So this has been bugging me for awhile. Not once had I encountered these wild werewolves. Anynone here have? I thought it was confirmed there were no wild werewolves aside from those in the cages.

"These are generic Werewolves you can encounter as hostile creatures in the wild:
  • Werewolf Beastmaster
  • Werewolf Brute
  • Werewolf Savage
  • Werewolf Skinwalker
  • Werewolf Vargr
They appear only at night, and can be detected by an unusually loud wolf howl."-UESP wiki.

uesp says that there a encounters with wild werewolfs.
I didn't ever encounter one after 4 playthroughs, but i found a vid on yt about random werewolf encouters in rifton so actually if this a non modded skyrim version then the rumors might be true.
Have a look:

They are in Skyrim.esm. I looked it up in the CK. Looks like they are used in LVLN records named LCharWerewolf & LCharWerewolfBoss. Don't know where the spawn points would be though. I only ever saw them in caves with Silver Hand around.

Vargr is probably supposed to be Varg which means Warg. :bunny:
Anyway, that's a mod. Sadly.

Hey! Be nice. Sinding was hungry.

Varg means wolf in Norwegian. And Farkas means wolf, as does Vilkas. And Kodlak is werewolf in Scandenavian if I'm not mistaken. So it makes sense at least for the names to be in there.

Edit: Nice thread tags btw
Thanks.

Wars In Skyrim puts werewolves in many places. Some spawn when you are at low level and have their way with you :(

Yes, I know. I'm Norwegian if you did not notice.
Varg is a word used to describe unusually huge wolf monsters, not those regular wusses.
I have no idea where Farkas and Vilkas come in, neither that Kodlak meant werewolf. We simply call those Varulv (Ulv=Wolf)

Can't speek for the other scandenavian countries but in swedish werewolf is varulv (ulv is another word for wolf but the most common word for wolf is varg)

I've not met any in an unmodded game, but they appear everywhere in the Riften area with Wars In Skyrim mod.

From what I understand, they are in the master file, but for some reason, they don't spawn. I've sunk hundreds upon hundreds of hours into Skyrim since Nov 11th, and the only transformed werewolf I've seen in the wild was
Spoiler
Sinding.

It's kind of disappointing, because it makes Lycanthropy feel like a
Spoiler
Companions-Only
deal, minus the two aforementioned execptions.

It's probably worth pointing out that I don't fast travel, so it's not like I bounce around to cities or dungeons only, and expected to see a Werewolf there, I spend a great deal of time on and off the roads.

Same here. I think the danes follow the same route.
Now, how about Icelandic and Finnish?

Vilkas is Lithuanian and Farkas is Hungarian, iirc.

Cool, that's awesome. Thanks for clearing it up.
