Will a "Roleplaying" or hardcoe mode ever exist in S

i would love a hardcoe mode, where you had to eat and sleep and maybe make it so you couldnt buy ingots and you have to actually mine the materials to make your armor

This mode would force you to eat food a few times a day or suffer consequences and eventually die, requires sleep, drink, etc. Do you think Bethesda will ever do this for Skyrim or maybe a future TES game?

No. Because it would be boring as $h!t.

It exists, vampirism.

Think about it, unlike Fallout where clean water and food is hard to come by, the world of Nirn is full of lush green crops and clean water. Food is so easy to come by that it takes the survival aspect out of hunger/thirst and turns it into a chore.

Vampirism is the only logical hardcoe mode.

I think this would've fit perfectly in with Skyrim, too bad indeed.

"Like the Sims" = tedious makework & annoyance, all for the sake of so-called "realism". Resulting in a reduction in fun.

I may integrate this into my "need to take a poo" mod.

whats wrong with having the option some people like this "tedious makework" you speak of and wile I would not compare this to the sims the fact that Millions of people do like the sims seems like a good reason to have it.

A true 'Roleplayer' doesn't need to rely on game-mechanics to have such an experience.

For the same reason people don't think a hide helmet option should be included into the game or any other issue really.

Some people can't understand or even comprehend that certain features that they despise are actually fun to other, or things they love loathed by everyone else.
they also tend to be the vocal part of most communities.

I'm sure that if a hardcoe mode existed in the game there would be groups belittling or dismissing people just because they don't play hardcoe and vice versa.

A HC mode shouldn't have been included into the game by default, but it would have been a nice addition since many people seem to enjoy these kind of things.
In the end tough I think some guy will make a mod for it, it's just a question of time.

I agree with earlier posters tough most of these HC rules can be enforced by one self, you don't need a mod to make yourself sleep every night neither do you need mods to stop you from fast traveling if you think it's a cheap thing.
The only thing HC mode and mods do is enforce the rules globally, you can already make them yourself.

It didn't really work in NV so I think Skyrim would be fine without it.

This is true however it's not the same as when you have them built into the game I mean if it's house rules I feel like I'm compeating with myself however if they are built into the game it then becomes man VS machine which I find more compelling. I just doesn't feel like an accomplishment if I'm the one making up the rules.

I thought it was fine in FONV. I would like to see something incorporated into TES. Some absolutely hated it. And this goes out to my buddy Gram, it was an option! :wavey:

EDIT : In RL you know when you get hungry and get dehydrated. I need that in-game to help me stay on track. I loose track of time easily. RPing a character is one thing, where you are making up their story and personality. But pretending to eat and drink is not all that to me. I have a vivid imagination...but damn.

Will people stop bringing mods as an argument already?
It's [censored] irritating as Hell!

Why should we rely on fans to do something and not a company which gets payed to do that?
Also, remember that not everyone is a PC user!

OT:
A HC mode would be wonderful.
Would put some much needed spice in relatively tasteless Skyrim.

No I don't think they would. Its a high fantasy setting, not "Oregon Trail".

I also think "hard core" is an awful term for such a thing. It might or might not be hard (difficult proportional to how rare food is- in Skyrim food is COMMON) and it moves you further away from the core of the game. "Soft distraction" would be a more accurate description.

Hmmm, let us think.

hardcoe. Rules, the difficulty slider is always to the most difficult setting. You can only save on exiting the game. You only have one save game. You are not allowed to rely on Autosaves for backups.

Does this help define the problems.

Having to rely on eating to stay healthy is for NetHack.

hardcoe mode works in Fallout because most food and water is irradiated... finding fresh water/food was almost a mini-game of its own, in addition to monitoring your radiation levels. Skyrim has an abundance of fresh food/water and beds, so while I wouldn't outright dismiss the idea of a hardcoe mode, it would present little to no challenge. More of a hassle really than is necessary in a TES game.

The RP rules you restrict yourself to are just that, rules for your personal character. I doubt that a requirement or option would be welcomed with open arms, to be quite honest.
