Will you be able to craft arrows?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 7:59 am

So in the dawnguard dlc, your supposed to be able to craft crossbow bolts for the new weapons, but will it also bring the ability to craft arrows? I feel like if they put in one it wouldn't be hard to put into the other. What do you think?

I hope so, it would be nice just to make improvements to arrows, personally though I think that they should put in the proper tools for doing this, you don't create bows and crossbows at a forge,

I hope they put it in though. Crafting dragon bone arrows to go with the new dragon bone bow I'm going to craft would be pretty sweet.

Even though arrows are a common drop from enemies, and can be bought at multiple vendors, the ability to make arrows would be a sick implementation.

I'm sure it would be more tedious to craft arrows rather than buying them though.

Not if you can't buy that type of arrow, like daedric or (presumably) dragon.

Wrong, sir! Bow salespeople/fletchers sell all kinds of bows and arrows.

I don't spend much time in Solitude, but I've never seen the people at the drunken huntsman sell daedric arrows. besides, even when people sell arrows, they don't usually have them in great numbers (I don't think I've ever bought more than 50 of one type from a person at a time). Plus, Dragon arrows would also be very rare on account that most dragons aren't killed unless the dragon born is there, and I always take all the bones/scales. So it would still be easier just to craft a bunch yourself (assuming its like 10-20 arrows per dragon bone)

The nature of this guys post makes me think he is in the beta, and that the answer is yes.

I also mentioned enemy drops. Enemies drop tons of arrows frequently (of course, rarer arrows in lesser quantity). The type of arrow shouldn't really matter that much, since usually you're sneaking and will one shot an enemy anyways.

Dragons can be killed by normal people, see Redguard, only the Dragonborn can prevent them from being resurrected though.

1) not in the beta, otherwise I would be playing with it and not inquiring about it.
2) I have only ever found one drop of of daedric arrows (9) from one of those giant dwarven robots. So it still isn't a very reliable way to get great arrows because you will most likely shoot more people than you will pick up new arrows (even if you have the perk that usually lets you pick up your arrows, you don't always, so you run out.)

True but its more rare to get the higher grade arrows in practical quantities. Especially if you only use bows. I burn through hundreds of arrows and I always hit my mark and have recovery perk. I think it HAS to be implimented sooner or later. I sure hope so, because I won't feel like a true Bosmer untill I can fletch my own arrows. Plus he makes a point-how else are you going to get dragon arrows unless you craft them. or there just wont be dragon arrows

At first I was upset about not being able to craft arrows, then I got hundreds of each kind. I thought Todd said they were going to be harder to find than in Oblivion.

I think if you actually play as a full on archer, you will have a hard time keeping high level arrows, unless you do the solitude guard-infinite arrow cheat.

Like I said, you can do that. but still, it feels like a cheat, not to mention it completely takes you out of the whole roleplaying mood when you just steal super powered demonic arrows from a guard for an hour.

Agreed. Probably my biggest complaint in Skyrim since day one was not being able to craft arrows. Once you acquire the best armor, crafting basically becomes useless. I've been at level 100 since November and haven't crafted anything since. By being able to craft a none-reusable item makes that particular skill worth coming back to and continue using.

I do play an archer, but I usually just use steel arrows. There's just so dang many of them. Maybe if I stepped it up a notch I'd need to be able to craft them.

I'm usually stuck using steel arrows too, because you're right, there are tons. but on tougher enemies on the higher difficulties, it's nice to use some higher level arrows, plus I like the way they look (particularly the daedric and glass arrows)
