It all depends. As a vampire, I can agree with Harkon that the sun svcks. It doesn't kill me, it just pisses me off when I have to go out in it. But it's not like I have a choice, you know. Stores aren't open 24-7 and I need things! There's no 24 hour potion shop chain I can utilize.
So I'm down with the sun thing, that's cool. I mean, sure we run the risk of catastrophic ecological disaster without the power of the sun to nourish plants and wildlife, but this is a fantasy world, and I think I've read enough trashy fantasy novels to know, that when the sun goes out, it just turns the world into a swamp or something. But I'm a vampire, what do I care about plant life and photosynthesis? Humans can survive in other ways to focus on what's important. Serving me.
Granted, all bets are off if Harkon tries to svcker me in with the "living sacrifice" scam. Didn't work back in high school, not working now.
Yeah, but I want that castle, and I don't share power well, so I may have to kill him just to even the field. It's only fair.
Besides, it's not like I really have a choice in allegiance as a vampire. The Dawguard would probably start firing their crossbows at me before I even get a chance to say hi. They probably have Vampire detection magic. And then I'd have to kill them, and that would just further hurt my chances. It's not like you can walk into a job interview and kill some of the other employee's as a show of dominance. Management really frowns on that. Believe me, I know.
