I've always wondered why you couldn't tame a wolf or sabre cat with a piece of meat. Then maybe they might follow you and protect you for awhile hoping for more. Or why you couldn't feed apples to horses and get them to follow you... wouldn't be stealing then, if the horse just willingly came with you.
If you can Bribe them, this means that animals on skyrim can bee inteligent. So any time you will be abducted by an "Alien animal nation" for being a corrupt.....
It would be kinda cool if you could feed a wolf/sabre cat/snow bear, and then one day they come to your aid, and after the battle sit in a begging stance for more food and you'd be like, "Oh it's you again"....
Yes add new food to the cooking line, make use of the dragon shout to calm animals, add commands and make it so that your animal can run off if its not fed or treated properly. A lot could be done with this and other games like Wow have something similar like with the hunter line there
I dont think that would happen in real life though I mean if you went up to a grisly bear or a saber-tooth tiger and gave them a steak what do you think they would do?
Can you keep them permanently? No, and that's what the topic is about.

Half the things in Skyrim wouldn't "happen in real life".

Eat me very soon. But since it's a game, I'm hoping they'd appreciate me for a magical amount of time.
@http://www.gamesas.com/user/11861-gaelsong/ I don't know if you're on the PC or not, and I know this isn't at all what you really want, but maybe it would make do in the meanwhile? http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4034
