Worries about DLC

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 6:00 pm

I buy DLC that interests me. I buy DLC for games I love and want more of. I'll buy the DLC for New Vegas for those reasons. (Unless it involves aliens, in which case... I'll pass)

You can't throw every single thing you have into a product right from the start. You have to have something that keeps the customers coming back for more.

We're all consumers here. Nobody should be exclaiming and feigning shock that they have to spend money to get more of something... spending money is, um, what we do.

The Pitt was a superb DLC...had a real twist to it. Point Lookout was similar.

A DLC is simply downloadable content, of whatever they want to download...an expansion pack is simply an expansion to the game you already have. If you want something different, you buy a different game.

I think most DLC's are a rip-off anyway. Stuff that should have been in the game in the first place that you have to pay extra for. People will buy any old rubbish on xbox live that they would never look at twice if it was on a shelf in a shop.

Stuff that should have been in the game in the first place... You have got to be kidding me. First off, with Fallout, there is more gameplay in one playthrough than 10 average games combined. 20 if you are talking COD single player! Second of all, you clearly have no concept of the finances that go into making a game. It can take 10s of millions, or even upwards of a 100 million dollars to make a "new" game. People aren't willing to spend 120 bucks for a game right from the outset, so developers create DLC to make enough money to make creating the game worth it.You only have to buy it if you liked the original and want more of it. The alternative is that game companies don't create anything new so we just get recycled crap over and over again.

Thanks, but no thanks.
