Would it be possible to...

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:10 pm

Just simply put as that, there are a lot of quest bugs that could be solved just by adding it and if it could be put in the guys at beth would probably have a "few" less bug complaints:seeing as how the console would allow to correct themselves. So is it possible to put the console on the consoles? If so, why don't they have it on them now?

Nope.

Just buy a gaming PC. ;)

Edit: Why don't they have it? One word: Keyboard.

Hmmm it isn't? The keyboard would be the least of the problems, as they could just put it in the menu. So are you saying it isn't possible because of the whole keyboard "thing" or is it because there something else? As they both seem to be identical in their "vanilla"forms(no modds or outside content besides bug fixes). Also, I don't think my PC can really "handle" FO:NV.

i presume microsoft and sony don't want us to have that kinda of power.

Also they gave it for one game, people would demand it for all games.

If you think COD is bad now, just wait.

Also 404 can't you get a USB keyboard?

I'm talking about just putting it in a SINGLE player game, it'd hardly be a problem there. Also, why can't COD just make an anti-cheat system like VALVE does for its multiplayer PC games(a good example being TF2).

I'm not sure if that's possible on a console?

Well, that's what always kept me away from the consoles... the lack of a keyboard+mouse.
But then again, I'm a die-hard PC-gamer, so there you go.

The thing with the console is, you still need to type in the things you want, putting in a list on the console... would be huge, considering the items there are in both FO3 and NV.
I'm not against the idea of consoles having the console option though, hell, let them have their mods if it helps them along.

Eh. Both MIcrosoft/sony have no need to give us console commands therefore they will not.

On the Anti-cheat system; people will always find a way around systems.

That's the question I'm asking people though. Is it possible? If it is it'd help with A LOT of the quest bugs the "we" consolers "whine" about. The console could just be put in the menu and there already is a keyboadesque in place in both the 360 and PS3 so "we" could punch in the long codes to fix things, the "vanilla" versions of all the games seem the same. So I'm curious why it wouldn't work.

I don't see any techinical problems with adding in console commands on the consoles. You can "type" with the consoles, so a keyboard shouldn't be required. I just think that Microsoft and Sony don't want it implemented at all.

I wasn't aware of this.

IF so, beth or whoever needs to patch this, so you at least can use the console like us PC "kiddies" do.
Wouldn't seem fair otherwise.

But then again, maybe M$ has something in store for youse in the near future?

I don't understand that logic. People already cheat on COD using aim-bot and other "various" methods, and the only reason you think shouldn't add an anti cheat system is because people will find a way around it? People will always find a way around stuff, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be made. Also, I'm talking about bethesda adding something to THEIR game, I hardly doubt microsoft and sony would care if they added it(probably would make more people buy the game on consoles).

Why though? I don't understand why they wouldn't let beth put a the console on one SINGLE player game though, it'd actually increase the playability of game seeing as more people would actually be able to fix a lot of the game breaking glitches within the game right now and that in turn would make more people want to buy the game; knowing that they could fix "some" bugs by themselves, increasing profits for both of them.

I think it has something to do with keeping the games released on the consoles completely mod free. I guess you could consider the Console and its numerous commands as "Modding."

 How would it be modding if they(bethesda) put in the game(I'm not talking about every game now, just FO:NV) themselves?

It's never going to happen, they are low level commands which get Micro$oft and $ony feeling paranoid, even something as simple as TCL would be bypassing any anti-cheat system when you think about it, sure it will get you out of the rock you just got stuck in, but it also means you can fly over enemies avoiding them or even shoot them while being safe, or fly straight to that exit while avoiding travelling through the maze of a vault.

WELL I KNOW THAT ALREADY :banghead: , the question was would it be possible to put it on FO:NV, so far people say that it would, I myself have very limited game "know how", it just strikes me as odd that the PC and console versions of the game seem exactly the same, but it'd be impossible or even very hard at that for them to "integrate" a console on the latter.

What "anti-cheat" systems, I wasn't award of the fact that there was one on the consoles? How would this even be a problem on a single player game(not like t here's anyone else), there are plenty of games that have cheat codes on consoles why would this matter?

You are technically altering the game, which means you modify it. Console Commands can be used for any number of things, not just fixing quests or something (God Mode for example).

But how would this be a problem in a single player game, I mean there are games on the consoles now that allow to you to use a cheat code to enter god mode and other things.

It probably is physically and/or technically possible, as in there's no hardware or software reason it couldn't be done.

And then there's Microsoft/Sony's absolute refusal to support or allow modding, which presence of a console would be the beginning steps of, therefore it'll never happen.

I'm not saying Consoles shouldn't be added, i'm just saying Microsoft and Sony do not allow modding of any kind. Cheat codes are different since those were added by the developers, and don't really alter the game on the level Console Commands would.

I just don't get how it's "qualified" as modding though and would it really be a problem on a single player game?
