'wow' moments.

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 2:23 pm

I remember when first starting the game just after getting out of the tutorial being ambushed by two bandits, I remember one of them firing an arrow and having it narrowly miss my head. Hearing that swoosh and then the clunk of it hitting a nearby rock behind me immersed me more than any other game has been able to.

So my question is, what are your 'wow' moments in skyrim? moments that you remember everytime someone mentions skyrim.

Yeah I must admit after trudging through that dungeon, seeing blackreach expand further than the game could render gave me goosebumps :)

Am I the only one that doesn't like Blackreach? I think it is because the first time I went there I searched for two hours looking for the stupid Crimson Nirnroot. I think that just burned me out on it.

Definetely Blackreach, the shear look and beauty of it is amazing when you first see it..But what really got me was that i went in there at 23:30 thinking it i'll just do this part of the MQ then go to bed.. then as i finaly get to the Tower of Mzark after completing the side quest in Blackreach, i realised it was 04:30 and i had spent 5 hours just wondering around the place and had lost track of time... Just brilliant.

I don't like spiders. And the first time I did that golden claw quest in Riverwood. When that HUGE thing came down from the ceiling... Well... :S

Playing dead is dead and being low on health, then hearing the click that happens when you step on a trap...

First time being killed by a flying cauldron

Seeing mammoths drop from the sky

First time fighting a dragon (though they became boring after a while)

Becoming a werewolf for the first time.

Just a few things off top of my head.

I found that rather underwhelming.. yes the deatil was brilliant on it... but it was hyped up so much in the trailers and things, that when i saw it was just a small chunk of wall near a dinner table it was just a bit meh.

i remember missing that on my 5hr run, when my friend told me "i guess you killed the dragon then" .. i was so convinced he was lying to me, but still had to go back and check.

Discovering the statue of Irkngthand, was the most memorable skyrim moment for me. The Falmer/Dwemer story, is probably the only story in skyrim where I really thought wow, this is cool. Sadly it was also the end of that particular story. But still, an amazing moment. I also felt really bad about stealing for once, when I usually steal until I can carry no more.

Another wow moment was Blackreach. The first thing I did down there was to go swimming under the light of the glowing mushrooms. :D

I don't like it that much. Hard to see where you are going and the map makes no sense.

I think one of the things that I got a large wow out of was when I seen a dragon kill move 5 times consecutively. Their were guards flying all over.

When I just got the game and walked in the tundra and saw the northern lights in the night sky. I really felt like I was all alone in a distant world.

Nerdy, yes I know, but still...

Spoiler

one guard was picked up and dropped, which i think was scripted.

Not that nerdy they were very well done, and doesn't need to be a distant world, the northern lights in this world are amazing too.

My first time experiencing Kagrenzel was most definitely a wow moment for me. I wish I could relive that moment for the first time over and over again. The beginning of the dungeon was so unexpected, mysterious, enthralling and frightening all at the same time. It's really what I wanted out of Skyrim and that dungeon delivered.

Ahh yes that was certainly unexpected.. Well you was expecting something bad to happen, because every 5 minutes in Skyrim your attacked, ambushed, trapped or become servant to some malvolent deity.

My wow moment would have to be the first time I was attacked by two ancient dragons. I play on master so on is had enough for me to take down but two was unheard of. I had just come across a battle between the storm cloaks and imperial when the two dragons dropped down and began attacking everything in site. It was just about to be night and seeing as I'm a vampire I would be at full strength soon. The soldiers broke combat and focused on the dragon. I'm a battle Mage so I'm no stranger to magic or melee but I knew melee was not an option I started throwing lightning but by the time o got a few good hits all the soldiers were dead both dragons chased me down in foot and killed me. Lol even though I died it was still awesome
