Yes I KNOW it's locked and no I _wasn't_ eyeing it!

Considering that the only use for toilets in the wasteland is to put your face in and have a a gulp of irradiated water, soiling yourself may be the only choice... O.o

It's not even worth that. With a 10% rad res, its like. 4 HP + 12-14 rads. [censored] that, I'll drink out of the damn sink.

and get your ass filled with lead as you try fumble out of the lockpick screen, there is a reason it pauses ya know ;P

Alpha Protocol managed to do it perfectly.
Or, just scrap the minigame and have it work like hitman, where you just get a delay while the lock is picked. The delay length could be proportional to skill levels a la Deus Ex. ~Having lockpicking/hacking occur in real time would actually add to stealth elements, not detract.

I was actually shocked, and disapointed when i found out F3 paused for minigames.

bah your just lazy and wants your character to do all the job :P

Finally, someone who sees!

NPCs in New Vegas do not comment on you looking at owned/locked objects, nor do they comment on you knocking over objects in the environment.

It's nice to know you guys are also tweaking the "little stuff". Not that I wasn't already excited for FONV, but now I'm even more so. October 19 can't come soon enough... :)

Nice. I don't have to feel like I'm surrounded by paranoids. :P

Taking the opportunity since these have been part of the discussion, some of Obs devs said at some point that the minigames are tweaked (if my memory doesn't fail) - any chance for a lecture about it?

If Mr. Sawyer doesn't catch your Q in this thread, I think this question may be deserving of it's own thread...

Mini games in FONV, inquiring minds want to know! :)

However there does need to be a delay of some kind on the reactions. Wait until maybe I try the door first.

This pretty much. At least let me attempt something before accusing me.

Edit: Never mind.

I kid but it is good to know that we won't be hearing that anymore. And random NPC reactions can be quite funny. *picks up plate throw food off of counter* "You're easily entertained aren't you?"

I remember Junior Smith in Andale asking me something along those lines as I carried the body of one of the advlts I'd just murdered (his parents or aunt/uncle) toward the bridge, where I threw it over. "Having fun with that?" I wasn't, I was just cleaning up after myself, but you asking made me giggle, kid.

I always thought it was hilarious to make the NPCs get all spastic by jumping onto the table and kicking everything every which way. Now what'll they do if i turn their office into a garbage bin? Nothing? That's too bad. Some kind of reaction is better than no reaction at all...

Put in a headturning mechanism during lockpicking then. I wouldn't mind even if the minigame was scrapped altogether and let the character do that job while the player keeps watch (actually, I'd prefer it that way).

I would love lock picking (and hacking) to be a progress bar with the time depending on charter skill and task difficult. Having to have time to sneak in to a hallway, pick a lock, open the door, enter the room and close the door behind you, all before the wandering guard came back around and spotted you, so much more interesting.
Of cause if you already killed everything in the area, then that suspense is kind of a mood point, but it is not like the mini games in Fallout 3, Oblivion, and Alfa Protocol have been any interesting anyway.

I would like the mini games replaced with a progress bar as well not so much to add any real suspense but to just get rid of the damn things, maybe i'm just impatince and get annoyed easily trying to open an average container or computer with an 80+ in that skill and it still takes 7-8 tries before it finally opens or i just strom away before i get to the point of throwing my controller though my tv.

Personally, i find the Hacking minigame really difficult to do, because the wall of text is impossible for my eyes to read. Im reduced to picking the first three answers and exiting, then repeating until i get through, as i physically cant read the words.

I don't like the idea of auto-picking/hacking, be a nice toggle option though, I much prefer to do the minigame but make it so that it is eal time and you'll get knocked out of it if attacked or discovered.

While reading this thread, it reminded me of something. I always found it was strange in Fallout 3 that you could see the contents of an NPC's pockets before picking them. You can go up to someone in sneak mode, chose pick pocket, see what they have, and if they have nothing of interest, you can exit out without any penalty. It's like you're able to sit there and root through their pockets to see what they have, but the only chance you have at getting caught is if you actually take something.

one of the reasons why they put in the reactions, tod howard said was because when morgan webb from xplay did they revew there was a big thing about not haviong reaction and it showed to player jumping on a table a kicking all the stuf off, and that it is better to have it than not to

Agreed, and I might add success too to be based on skill and the lock difficulty - at least up until the skill is equal or over the lock level. I've been asking for something like that since before Fallout 3 was released.

This is such good news - I Hated it when NPC's would comment like that.

What I also like is that now it opens the field a bit for us to add reactions back to NPCs via the mod where it makes sense.
