Do You Actively Use Twitter : Othor Games

I started a Twitter account during the summer for a little self promotion and quickly realized how boring those tweets are. I'm now trying to convert it into more of a micro blog on things I find interesting. This made me curious:

What do you use Twitter for?

To talk to friends?
To find news?
To shop?
To find funny tweets?
Just to see what's trending?
Other? (Explain)

Anyone here have a very popular Twitter page?

What do you tweet about, mostly?

I use twitter a lot to get news and updates from people and companies I like. I'm not following any of my friends on twitter because they are all annoying idiots who shouldn't be allowed to use social networks. (well most of them anyway. One friend of mine had a bacon cheeseburger last week and he posted 62 pictures of it on Facebook.)

I started using twitter to get updates from Lifehacker (the only decent website in that network) but nowadays I mostly read tweets from Rock Paper Shotgun, PC Gamer, Duncan Harris (Dead End Thrills) and some minor celebrities that happen to be somewhat intelligent and interesting.

I use it mostly for talking to a couple of friends who inexplicably think it's better than Facebook, for humour (Sickipediabot, the fake Queen, etc.) and for following the occasional celebrity (mostly Deadmau5 and Skrillex). I hardly ever tweet apart from talking to the two friends.

Deadmau5 is pretty awesome on twitter

I signed up to enter a raffle. I didn't win. I haven't touched it since. I just use RSS feeds to keep up with the stuff I follow.

What you should do is sign up for some obscure open source social network that no one has heard of and then constantly tell people how awesome it is (by posting on Facebook) and how you can't believe they are still "using this mainstream crap"

As my bio says: "I tweet about video games, quotes from the Yogscast, my mediocre life and the occasional lyric." :laugh:

It's handy to stalk certain e-celebrities. I enjoy Twitter because of the conversations that can stem from it. For example, a friend might tweet about some video game or band and I'll jump onto them about that topic. It's good in the way that you find things about people you would never normally find out about them in casual, normal conversation with them.
