You Build Me Up, Then You Knock Me Down

One thing to note about cazadors--especially if you're lower level but just can't stop from wandering--is that if you have ED-E, tehy are unique on the sensor screen. Only bloat flies and cazadors jerk back and forth quickly on radar, so that's your cue that you don't want to approach that area unless you're ready to deal with them. Also, party composition is big here. You can take them earlier with Boone, but with Veronica, she's just target practice. A final tip is that this is one time you may want to use VATS because of their jerky movements and speed.

The fact that the Cazadores are tough is not any sort of glitch or bug.

They are perhaps the toughest enemies in the game.

I'm at level 30, after 160 hours on my first playthrough and the only way I've been able to beat them when they gang up on me is by using a few doses of Turbo and hacking them to bits with the super slam perk and a super sledge or rebar club.

You might want to go to the cave by Jacobstown and pick up "Oh Baby". It is the quintessential Super Sledge. :)

Welcome to the forums. :celebration:

And now for the Cazadores problem. ED-E is really helpful for spotting them. I like to use a 40mm grenade rifle with extended range tube. You sit back behind a hill, fire over the hill to where they are. With some practice, you can learn the best placement of grenades to wear them down pretty good with only 6 - 10 grenades fired. Then you move up and take them out with assulte rifle, shooting the closest one first (of course). Also having Boone or Cass, (because of their longer ranged attacks), is a big help.

Consider yourself lucky, from what I've heard on this forum people are having much worse problems than you, although I myself haven't experienced any aside from a couple of freezes. As for Cazadors, yeah they are a pain, just aim for the wings in V.A.T.S. using weapons with high DPS or hollow point bullets and it's easy once you cripple it. Don't even try to snipe them as its near impossible. I had problems with Cazadors on my sniper character because of their erratic movement but once I got close I just spammed a 10mm smg or used V.A.T.S. with my sniper to target the wings. On my melee character they're child's play, just a couple of punches kills them but the poison is a problem since you have to get so close.

The fact that the Cazadores are tough is not any sort of glitch or bug.

Glitch no, bug yes (no pun intended - seriously). It is a bug in logic. The first thing you run into in the LV wasteland is a cazadore (unless you head straight to the diner and talk to the girl that takes you on the basic tutorial mission and then it is geckos). Logical games make the tougher opponents appear later in the game not 10 seconds into it. Not only is the area around your starting area littered with them, but you find entire packs of deathclaws a bit further (no not the canyon, in the wasteland proper). Imagine running into a deathclaw one hour into Fallout 2!

This game uses leveled lists, so everything in the universe levels when you do (which is quite silly). That is why the OP had to hit one with two shots from the alien blaster/pistol, the OP was probably at least L15 and so was the bug (I wonder what perks it chose).

As for tactics, shoot the antennae - once that is disabled the bug will frenzy and attack one of the other bugs. That leaves you free to do the same thing to the third (since they seem to travel in threes). Then there will only be one mostly-dead bug you actually have to kill yourself.

As for flying radscorps (that is what the cazadore is) - I consider that as silly as the Rock-it-Launcher which Obsidian hated so much (just to be fair - so did I). So much for getting back to good 'ol Fallout. Do not even think about trying to justify dog-rattlesnakes. Why not just cross a mirelurk, deathclaw, and a vertibird? ;-)

The best thing to do is to get Psychoelf's Level Stripping mod, and a realism mod that balances out the weapons and creatures. That way the humans are as dangerous as the creatures, and the universe does not level with you. Everything is at http://newvegasnexus.com/.

Thanks for the news on the update, 'summer', it's reassuring to see that this problem is being addressed. I'm getting a new X-Box in about a week or so (Current one has a disc-reading error) and I'll probably start playing New Vegas again after I've replayed Fallout 3, so there should be plenty of time for the patch to be realised :hehe:

'GT409', thanks for the tip against Cazadors. I'll try it out ^_^

Welcome, FIrstly is your disc error saying stuff like "Play Dvd" because i suffered from that.

Any way, using a hunting rifle at range usually did the trick for me against cazadors.

The first thing you run into is a Cazador if you ignore everyone telling you "Don't head North, the critters up there just get mad when you shoot them." and "Go South to Primm and talk to the guy who runs the local Mojave Express".

In other words, the Cazadors and Deathclaws are supposed to be an obstacle to make you go in the intended, plot-oriented, direction.

My problem is similar to yours, 'Skoomaholics Anonymous', but to a greater extent. With the disc in, the Xbox says 'Open Tray'. After opening and closing the tray roughly 10 to 20 times, it'll say 'Play DVD'. A few more times and it will say 'Play Game'. Then a few more and it will say 'Play [Name of Game]'.
And even then, it might not work. It may start to load, before getting the 'Disc cannot be read' error, or go into the game with a glitch (The main menu in Black Ops has missing walls, for example).

I must say, everyone here is very, very helpful. I'll try to use these tips again Cazadors next time I play :)

Couple weird glitches for me, here and there, but nothing that has flat out ruined a character. I always run dual saves and space them about 5 mins apart. If something dose go wonky(I had Veronica freeze up on me at the conclusion of I could make you care)I had a save ready at the right place to fix the problem.

Cazador can be brutal if they get the jump on you and your build and gear don't support close combat, but Vats shots to the large, easy to hit wings make these bugs nice and easy xps and caps.

If your using a ranged weapon ( guns energy) than either go for hollowpoint rounds and try to aim for either wings or the head. Melee you should go for quick vats to the head. If anything the best thing is to have good perception and spot them early and sneak around.

cazadors are actually easier to kill than you'd think, the trick is not trying to do as much damage to them by shooting them in the head, but instead shoot them in the wings with a shotgun and it cripples them. then they arent as deadly, still pretty fast but they fly around you making it hard as hell to hit them.

companions help to, by drawing away the cazador's attention from you giving you more time to hit them before they hit you.
