Do you follow the Fox?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 6:17 am

And do you follow the Goat? I follow them for a bit more often than not and it often leads to a place I haven't been or shows me the path in a snowstorm. What a great technique...organic and natural. What has the Fox or Goat shown you? Last night it was a bandit hideaway for me and I thought I'd been over that ground already.

And people say there's no depth or meaning in your choices in TES.

Fox typically leads me to crypts.
The first one I saw, I drew my bow (much like the infamous chicken) then thought, "Wow, the little guy sure seems to be moving with a purpose." Decided to follow it instead. Led me to the Guardian Stones, I believe.
Haven't followed any goats yet.
Great feature (even if it's just coincidence).

The first time a fox ran past me and just kind of sniffed and looked at me and then kept running doing his thing I decided I could get leather elsewhere.

Foxes are pretty cool in that game (like in real life actually). I never kill them.

I don't like the stereotypical "bad" wolf who attacks on sight they have in the game. Wolves don't attack people (well, extremely rarely). But hey, it's a game, I get it. I would slaughter every coyote I would meet though if they were in the game. Dislike them with a passion.

Wow. I was being chased by a vicious Troll (in fact there were two). I was about level 2 and knew I had no chance against them. I ran for my life.

I saw this fox who jumped on a ledge and ran too. I realised that this would be a good spot for me to go to get away from the Trolls. i kept following this Fox.

A friend was watching with me and she said, "That fox is showing you the way out!" I laughed at that.

I escaped the trolls forgot about it and moved on. But could the fox really have been leading me somehwere?

Hmm i think a group of wolves would attack a lone traveller. Since they are in the wild they would hunt almost everything.

Thanks  Always nice to hear that

Hmm i think they just run away from you instead of actually lead you somewhere. Could be wrong but that would be my point of view.

They lead me to their fox den where you can slaughter fox pups and drink fox milk straight from the teet.

Perhaps but wolves tend to move out when humans settle an area (or at least avoid them). They don't really like human presence. They've retained that "wild" aspect which coyotes don't have - they thrive near human settlements. In fact, here in Canada some wolves have started cross-breeding with coyotes and biologists say they've retained wolf-type physical attributes but they are less afraid of humans (like coyotes). It could be a problem eventually I guess.

Hey, has anyone here ever seen a wolf actually attack another creature? As in, for food? Because I've yet to see a lone wolf try to take down a rabbit or, say, a pack of wolves go after a deer.

I thought this was just a rumor?
I tried it and it just ran away and then it returned to the starting point...

I saw wolves attack deer, yes, and kill them. I once saved a goat from two wolves too. I was expecting some kind of reward but the coward ran away.

To the OP, I'll try and follow a fox to see but they might just be "running away" from you.

Wait, what?! So when I'm laughing while eviscerating poor wildlife creatures with Fire Breath, I'm missing out on valuable treasure?!

Wow...

I see that all the time- but only from a long distance. As soon as you're close enough for them to notice you, you're the target.

Cool. :) I've been watching the behavior for a while before I made the topic and I think it may even partly be to accommodate the TES fans who say they don't want a compass. I think it's a real organic way to point at something.

I could always be wrong though. :D

Animals have an annoying habit of following man made roads and trails. Guess it's the way pathing works. I find myself wishing they would veer off into the woods or something instead of having me essentially run along side them for what seems like miles.

I'm sure they end up leading you places because they follow roads and trails and roads and trails tend to lead you to places.

I've seen a wolf kill a fox, and attempt to kill a rabbit. That's the extent of things I've seen wolves hunt, other than myself. :bolt: I've seen sabre cats and bears kill deer, elk, and goats; they seem to be more successful (or more proactive) hunters.

Are you sure the trails are made by men?

You'll find that such behavior is realistic - Animals follow man-made trails, and humans follow animal-made trails - It's easier to walk on a road, and they know it leads to or through somewhere.

Oh Great, I wondered about this as it seems the little fella's were trying to get my attention.

I personally think these are great, I like foxes, rabbits and elk/moose things. I always save them from wolves, but I feel bad killing the wolves.
