Because the people who can't self-censor like this have already been banned by now.

In my case, it's not really self-censorship. Usually it's well thought out but I gradually lose my train of thought as I type more and then the whole post stops making sense to me, and progressively off-topic. So I'm more to the point now with my posts, and over the years honed my social skills, where I can say alot in just a few words.

I'll very rarely type up a full reply and then not post it. Normally what happens is that I partially formulate what I think is an intelligent response in my head, start typing it, and then half-way through either realize it's not as smart as I thought, or I go completely blank as to how to finish it.

I've recently found myself creating long posts explaining something, or short posts explaining nothing and not actually pressed the post button. Not accidentally, but deliberately. I have no idea why I do it, but I kinda get the feeling that I don't want to get caught in a long discussion about something unimportant that someone else might get involved it. On other forums there's a constant need to explain stuff to new players in different games, like on any gaming forum, and I'm more than glad to help out with the knowledge I've gathered. Sometimes, however, I've just written a post exaplining something.. And I just swap the page thinking "not worth it". It's kind of hard to explain.

Yeah, I do it..... I either decide once I'm done that I don't want to be drawn into someone else's idiocy, or I realize that what I've written might be taken poorly / be overly antagonistic. (yeah, this is generally in response to posts that I think are crazy in some way. :tongue:)

I sometimes delete without posting. Usually cause ive started rambling and it just seems boring.

I dont really seem able to make a short post, Seems i need to go into detail about most things.

Usually my posts have been edited several times since been posted also.
I read them over after ive typed, change some stuff, shorten some stuff etc, then post.
Then i read it again, change some stuff, add some stuff etc.
Sometimes change the wording also incase it comes across offensive or just a bit odd.

I think it would be rare to find my posts without an edit or several.

This too. Most of my unposted replies, I try to make them well thought out and easy to understand. But then I feel as if it will go unnoticed because posts similar to mine have already been said before and no one seems to notice them.

And it's just not worth it getting involved in an internet argument (imagine meme picture here). I've typed several responses and in the last minute said to myself "wait a minute, do you really want to participate in this cluster[censored]?".

I suffer from this more on Facebook. I see someone's status and get this dying urge to say something, that I deem, witty but at the cost of coming across as a complete arsehole :laugh:
But for the forums, I tend to delete the post because I think what I'm saying is going to get corrected.

Yep. Either because I realise I've veered off topic, or it's boring/pointless (especially if I see that lots of other people have put the same thing), or because I can't be bothered to get into a debate or because it's close to going to work/bed/real life and I wouldn't get to reply.
Also if I type something and then realise it's just me getting flamey, although I may still need to work on that one a bit more. :sadvaultboy:

All the time. I often find myself typing out a post but then read it and decide to not bother. Usually because I decide that it isn't worth my posting of it, nervousness about coming off as a fool from said post, or not being a very productive post. That said my post count is lower then what it could be but feel that need to uphold some standard that I usually try to uphold (also rather compulsive about edits that occurs from how I word things to my admittedly poor grammar).
