(This topic might be one of those posts for me.. Don't know yet)
But it wasn't. hehe

I've recently found myself creating long posts explaining something, or short posts explaining nothing and not actually pressed the post button. Not accidentally, but deliberately. I have no idea why I do it, but I kinda get the feeling that I don't want to get caught in a long discussion about something unimportant that someone else might get involved it. On other forums there's a constant need to explain stuff to new players in different games, like on any gaming forum, and I'm more than glad to help out with the knowledge I've gathered. Sometimes, however, I've just written a post exaplining something.. And I just swap the page thinking "not worth it". It's kind of hard to explain.

Anyways, it seems I won't be switching to another page without posting this thread because I'm too curious to find out what you others have to say (or not say :hubbahubba: )

Yeah, I've done it often: various reasons, usually that I think I'm being pedantic, contentious, boring or simply not making any sense. I'm often all of those things anyway, but the stuff I don't post is even worse!

Many times I have created one of those long posts only to scrap it after re reading it.

If I had posted everything I ever started a reply to, I'd be master by now...or banned

Now that you mentioned it, I do feel that way. Not always, but most of the time when I don't post something.

I actually did it again, I wrote something and didn't post it then I made a new post, this one and posted it.

Oh yeah, of course.

I can write a very long post and then think "no-one needs to hear this" and close the tab. Not uncommon at all.

If anything, I should censor more.

I have done this more recently, but usually in the Skyrim GD. Some wise and unseen entity taps me on the shoulder and politely explains that I'm wasting my time.

I do it all the time. Usually I decide what I've written sounds stupid/ no on will be interested and don't post it.

Sometimes, but only if the post I've written is very short. Otherwise I'm going to post it.

After I proof read my post if I don't like the way it came out I will try to change it or not post it. If my post doesn't really add to the discussion or answer the question, I won't post it.

I used to do it all the time when I posted on the Skyrim forums for the same reason. Now that I don't post there very much anymore it's become a rare thing for me.

I do end up editing posts a lot (like this one) though, usually because I see a grammar error I didn't catch or think of something I want to add (like this).

Yes. Or I'll go back and completely change something I said that I thought was funny, and think about it for a while and realize that it's likely that I would be the only one who thought it was funny and that it might be embarrassing or humiliating to someone else.

I really like that you can edit your posts. It saves us (meaning you too) from a lot of potential troubles.

I do this fairly often, usually not very long posts. If I spend the time writing it, I may as well post it.

This has been happening to me lately, when I started realizing what's the point of thinking my opinion is needed. For some reason, I also seem to kill threads half the time just by posting in them, and not just on the Bethesda forums.

Happens all the time in the Fallout section. I'd be halfway through a well thought out counter arguement to someones opinion, but then I hear a voice in my head just say 'Hey, just don't, you know they'll just say 'Lol w/e dude Im still right' and shrug off your post'. It's why I stopped participating in most debates there.

I've never done it, and it's rare that I make a topic here. Usually the replies I get are sufficient enough where input from me isn't needed, but I provide one anyway, as a way to let everyone know that I've read the replies.

I misread the question.

Yeah I have made thousands of posts, ready to be submitted, but at the last second, I change my mind.

All the time. Usually it's just too off topic or spammy.

Pretty much all the replies are "Yes". Why the one-sidedness?

Because the people who can't self-censor like this have already been banned by now. :D

It's not really self censorship sometimes. Most of my issue is that I try and prepare a well thought out point, only for it to be ignored because it can't be countered off the bat, so I just mentally go 'eh, what's the use?'.

Haha, you too?

I've done it a couple times, usually when I think I'm going to get caught in a "'I think this and you're wrong' 'Well I think this and you're wrong'" battle.
