Need A Food License, Business and Vendors Permit in order to setup shop with the Business one costing about $50 a day and an extra $180 for the year. Not going to say anything to turn this political, but man this is just wrong on so many levels.

Just the police state breathing down necks, acclimating people to a more totalitarian future.

There needs to be a law exempting streetside stands run by minors from these sort of regulations.

Probably due to the low level amounts of urine in the last batch.

That will teach those pesky kids to sell refreshing beverages in my neighborhood!

You would have thought these hooligans would have learned their lesson when we shut down the lemonade stand before theirs!

How? I mean yeah, it's a little overboard, but really... what did go into that lemonade? I mean I think the comments in particular are making that video a much bigger deal than it is. Like the mom said, just drop it and get over it.

Ah yes this is why I love the country. We don’t have junk like this happening. What a joke people doing this shutting down a lemonade stand ran by children. I walked by one not long ago with my dog I paid I believe 50cents and got a cup full and went on my way. Good stuff on a hot summer day.

The law is there for a good reason. Its there to ensure that the products that we enjoy are safe and prepared hygienically and they have relevant insurances.

If for example, these kids served up a glass of lemonade that made a customer sick, their parents would be on the hook for a huge lawsuit.

Could/should this have been dealt with better - perhaps - but the law is there for a darned good reason, to protect everyone including the kids.

I'm more inclined to believe it's misappropriation of the rules/law. People are stupid, all of them, and that means that even police officers are liable to make bad decisions in their line of work.

And it's a problem with regulation and law too. We keep making more and more and more laws based on incidents in an effort to cover our collective asses I guess...but it ends up with laws that don't let you set up a lemonade stand, or give your neighbor a haircut, or do your own yard work.

I think it's silly. That's how I feel about society right now. It's all just too ridiculous and silly to even be real.

Unfortunately, it is. And as it stands, every thing will just get worse in the future.

I would think so, but apparently that's incorrect and "The law is the law" here. The problem is agent_c is right in that if someone gets sick from the lemonade stand then the parents will get their butts sued off since lately people are major jerks. However I think there needs to be an exemption here where children/kids under the age of 13 are allowed to setup a lemonade stand or other means of making money.

Truly the saddest thing is I wouldn't be surprised if governments at the state level decided to levy entrepreneurial taxes against children and teens that mow lawns to earn extra cash.

This reminds me of the time my grandmother demanded to know why three girls who were standing across the street from her home hadn't been arrested.

I can kind of see why they can shut them down, you don't know how these kids have been making the lemonade, if any of them are sick and if they are being clean. But to fine a minor for trying to raise money honestly is just not right and is not setting a good model for kids on what they can accomplish.

Do you know how many people wouldn't pay that?

I wouldn't.

There should also be some serious lawsuit reform to go along with it. Which would solve another huge problem the US faces today.

Somehow I can't see the police driving around looking for lemonade stands to ticket. Here they'd just respond to calls someone made. The report is like "the police is ramping up their war on illegal lemonade stands".

In capitalist America you ALWAYS need a permit so nothing new here.

EDIT: Why would anyone make a lemonade stand when you can go to any store and get gallon (or a large carton) for just a $1?

Since we can't talk about illegal activity on this forum, I wonder if that now includes setting up an unlicensed lemonade stand.
