Level 4.
Normal difficulty.
PC.

Walking along the Highway toward Sloan from the Railway Junction - when I am set upon by FOUR deathclaws.
Needless to say, I am killed instantly...as at Level 4 I've yet to find any formidable weapons, so I'm basically stuck with spit and harsh language.

I re-load, toggle God Mode and shoot one of them in the head TWENTY-FIVE times in a row using my Laser Rifle (the most powerful of the measly pea-shooters I've managed to accumulate thus far) and its health diminshed by exactly TWO bars.

After twenty or so minutes of that enthralling activity - they all lay dead and I continued my journey south.
Five minutes later - I was fighting EIGHT of the bastids at once. 7 advlts and one young'un.
If this isn't madness enough - midway through this waste of time - I'm accosted by some geezer who wants to talk to me about bottle caps - WHILE I'm being torn to shreds by Nevada's entire deathclaw community. Once finished, he wandered away and up the road ; completely ignored by the thrashing throng.

What. The. Hell.
This, plus the dodgy framerate has me starting to regret waiting all this time.
I've played FO3 dozens of times on every difficulty there is...and never had to endure something as ludicrous as this. :swear:

As they say about 5 billion times in the game dont go up i15 you will DIE. There is only one safe route through to vegas and you will find it by following the main quest aways.

That's what happens when they don't level scale, some areas are far too tough at low level.
As it should be :fallout:

Yep, encountered a Feral Ghoul Reaver near the Nevada State Highway Patrol location who one shotted me at full health. I am playing on hard difficulty though.

Random rant, I'm finding Giant Radscorpians to be a little overpowered in this game. I'm only level 7 and on normal difficulty they are killing me in 2 hits. I'm using the Caravan Pack gear, Lightweight Leather Armor and Sturdy Caravan Shotgun.

This. You can't go anywhere you want early in the game. I like it I don't want to be able to go everywhere without consequences of dangerous foes. This is a plus in my book.

What did you expect? Not only do countless people in-game tell you to say of I95 but F:NV has no level scaling. They have set areas with set enemies. Like around Goodsprings will always be Geckos and Cyotes, even at Level 30 and up on I95 there will always be Deathclaws and whatnot.

There are 30 levels in this game, there are dozens of better weapons to be found. and still you expect to beat one of the more difficult creatures at level 4??? that's hardly reasonable.

here is a simple equation for you:

Deathclaws + Level 4 Character = Epic Fail

Also, be careful of Cadazores and Nightstalkers... They both svck.

Amen to that.

Your weapon svcks for taking on Radscorpions, though... I use a "Service Rifle" (the M16-looking thing) with AP ammo + sneak critical to soften them up from long range... and a Cowboy Repeater when they get in closer - seems to give me a fighting chance (level 6), but it does use up a lot of ammo.

Giant Radscorpions are so OP, I was shooting them with a good condition Plasma Rifle and it still wasn't penetrating their armor... :cryvaultboy:

For the Giant Radscorpions I have found rifle slugs at close distance to do some pretty good damage. (I recommend dropping a mine or powder charge to slow them down as well).

If you get the Living Anatomy Perk, you can tell how much HP and DT they have..

I think the Giant Radscorpions have like 200hp with 35DT.. So you need to have a pretty good weapon to do any serious amount of damage, though I do find that AP ammo for 5.56mm lacking in punch due to the fact they they do extremely low damage when fired from AC and LMG.

Giant Radscorps feel like bloatflies when dealing with a swarm of Cazadores (oversized bees.) Don't try to outrun them either, they are faster than you.

Quite correct.
However, I didn't expect to bump into any of them at Level 4, let alone a couple of dozen almost all at once.
It reminds me of Morrowind in that regard.

I was defiant and I went straight for it from the graveyard. A few radscorpions and cazadores later, I will never do that again.

Lmao! Same thing happened to me when I first played, but, I enjoyed it. I ended up sneaking through the black witches mountain and then just sprinting to vegas from there. I thought it was awsome that as a low level I couldn't charge through.

Yea, good springs people tell you not to go up I-15, if you follow the progress of the main quest, you won't have those sorts of problems (unless you try and take the path to cut through the cliffs with that one deathclaw). Your weapon did nothing because you can't do crap with energy weapons unless the skill is high.

Not really. I didn't have that much trouble with the cazadores, but I've yet to kill a giant radscorpion, which is exasperating. Especially since if you go up the hill to the cemetery in Sweetsprings, you'll find a bunch of the mothers on the other side. I hate radscorpions. I have to get the Entymologist Perk ASAP just to stay even. :swear:

Funny thing is...I found a lead pipe to be my best bet for dealing with giant radscorpions. Just circle and circle clubbing away at them. I was level 6 then.

At one point, I'm doing the "club" dance, and fighting 2 giant and 2 radscorpions at the same ^@*! time. Just circling and circling for all its worth...bashing and bashing till the pipe broke...while they worked so hard to turn their bulky crab legged bodies.

You can do it!

I got ran over by 6 nightstalkers at once... not pretty.

Cazadores? I'm able to kill 2 of them at a time with a companion, but when they start swarming, time to pop that Stealth Boy.
