If you lived in skyrim....

Riften would be my first choice as I would try to join the thieve's guild. If not RIften then Solitude just because of it's beauty.

I'd hope to live in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary.

If Tamriel was real, and by serving Sithis you would live for eternity next to him (as happened in a previous TES game) I wouldn't have any problem with killing innocent people.

I'd say Solitude, but near the bay; Solitude Sawmill. For some reason I really love it there. That or Dawnstar.

which town would you live in? I'd say Solitude or Whiterun the others feel too"dark"

Riverwood will always be my favorite. Then Whiterun is a very close second. Although I wish Whiterun's location was a bit different. Don't like being in the middle of a valley *vulnerable*

Markath to me is the most defensible city in the game, I believe even Ulfric had a hard time trying to siege it and was only successful because he used his Thu'um to aid his army. Being that if Skyrim were real, you would have to take into account dragon attacks (safe inside of Markath since most of the city is built into the mountain sides, by dwarves none the less) War both civil and with the Thalmor, which IMO Markath next to Solitude are the hardest cities to raid, and the local wild life which Markath doesn't seem to have a problem with.

I also have to question why it seems like the Thalmor like Markath out of every other hold. Leads me to believe that they too see a good strategical element to it as well.

I like the stone buildings ol Windhelm but the environment is too harsh, the weather so depressing. Everything is of a dull grey. Riften is nice and I really like honeyside. Whiterun is not bad, the view atop dragonsreach is magnificent.

Falkreath. If only all the house weren't built of wood.

Safety is overrated. Where is your sense of adventure?

But YOU being in this world, vs playing the Dragonborn in this world are two different things. I am a big guy, 6'4" 240lbs IRL. Now I could say I would be the best warrior, but truth is I would probably work as a black smith or lumber jack. I would know how to defend myself outside, as I do in real life. However if I came across a dragon, troll or undead I would soil my pants and run. Because none of those things realistically could a lumber jack take on 1v1, but one of them would require a damn army to take down.

Sadly the game doesn't convey a sense of danger since you are the OP Dragonborn, but I am sure the normal mortals of Skyrim which is all we would be, would run at most of the things that the Dragonborn takes on before even eating breakfast.

But YOU being in this world
My answer still stands. I grew up in the woods (literally), spent the first 15 years of my life there before i ever set foot in a larger city. I know my way around wildlife, hunting and surviving. I'm good with the bow and i know a thing or two about fighting.

A cabin in the woods would be perfect for me ...

I grew up hunting, fishing, camping and hiking miles along the PCT and many other trails. I am very country, own horses, own guns, own a large 4x4 and I love the song "A country boy can survive" Because I honestly believe that among todays world few city dwellers would know how to set a snare, or purify water without a expensive tool. Heck I doubt most people eve know how to start a fire or let alone how to make the tools to even try.

All that aside, the first time I saw a dragon, since you know im not blessed with the power of a god to combat them, I would run or die. Knowing how to hunt and camp in the woods, isn't the same as fighting for your survival, especially against such large and fearsome creatures.

Tell me do you believe in bigfoot? If you ever saw one in the woods do you honestly think you could take it 1on1 with a sword? I doubt it considering the tales of how large and strong its suppose to be that it can even withstand gunshots. I am willing to bet now, that a troll in Skyrim would make Bigfoot look like a whimp, so if you can't take on bigfoot in this world, I can't really believe you could in Skyrims world. Unless you just so happen to be Dragonborn, but I think the topic of this is more of a normal everyday person perspective.

I am not trying to say it wouldn't be an adventurous place, just that it would be a little more harsh then I think people give it credit for :) If I wasn't living in Markath only because I believe it the safest city, id probably be in Riverwood or somewhere similar working as a lumber jack. A more protected life with an area great to hunt and fish at. Like it was said before, there many abandoned cabins in the woods with dead hunters in them. Never know when a troll will come knocking on your door and in Skyrim they are real.

Since we're talking about Skyrim, yes, most certainly!

That's what my trusted fire enchanted sword is for. I'm also pretty good with magick.

Probably somehwere around falkreath or riverwood. Especialy by that lake in the area. Probably doesn't get too cold by skyrim standards and during the summer may even be able to swim in that lake.

The Alchemist's Shack. It's not really a town, but I roleplay that as my high elf's house. I'd definately put some doors on that thing though. Not much for waking up with a bear in bed with me. :cryvaultboy:
