Do you remember playing the original Halo?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:17 pm

Do you remember when it came out? I was just digging around in my basemant and found my old Xbox and my copy of Halo:Combat Evolved. So much nostalgia. Did you have the game, and do you still have it?

Then that mission thats all in the dark. I loved the game. Then the flood showed up. Kinda like how I liked halo 3, then played cortana.

I still have some videos saved from when it was being developed for the Mac with a PC port planned, however once it moved to the XBox I stopped following it - I wasn't planning to get the system.

I've played a little Halo 2 over at my brother-in-law's but that's the extent of my actual gaming experience with it.

Yes, but for some reason I didn′t like it that much. The controls were awesome, but the setting of the game didn′t get me...

Haha I remember mt first play though my big brother told me about the flood. So halfway through the assault on the control room I gave up in fear of them. :P
Eventually I did face my fears and beat it, and it Halo became my favorite game of all time

I remember getting an Original Xbox just for Halo, because my friends at school were like "Oh man you have to play this game! THE FLOOD! THE FLOOOOOOOOD!!!" and I just had to see what it was about.
Ever since then, I have loved the Halo games. I remember the first time I got the game, played it, and was just simply amazed. It really was a pivotal moment in my gaming career. Almost as pivotal as my first RPG, which was Morrowind. That really changed the way I play games, and what I expect from games.

I never owned it, but an old friend of mine would have little "get-togethers" at his house and we would play online on 4 different computers, usually on a team, but not always.

played a couple missions one night when I slept over, thought it was the coolest thing since GTA. lost interest after I got a ps2 and vice city.

I is older then teh Halo, does that make me ancient? :(

I still have it. In fact, I played through it and the other Halo games just a few months ago.

Har har.

You don't consider games from 2001 old?

I never bought nor played Halo. It always looked just like another FPS to me.

Of course, it's a 10 year old game. Is that not old?

Not really, no.

Let me explain, today I installed an old game that I love. It's called Duke Nukem 3D and it was released in 1996.

Do you consider Age of Empires II an old game? What about Morrowind? Both of those released around the same time as Halo. I think you just don't consider it old because of how much Halo Bungie and Microsoft recycle and rehash every year, but the original old and true Halo is an old game.

10 years isn't really "old". sure, it's awhile, but I've seen games released recently that are poorer quality then ones released back in the late 90's and 2000's, and by that i mean more effort and time went into them, not better graphics and etc. it seems to me like they're just throwing garbage out there just because they know some svckers are gonna buy it after they see an advertisemant saying how great a game it is.

Hah.

But really, 2001 games are old now I guess. It's funny that I only realised this after thinking about it. At first I was like "Of course 2001 ain't old! Oh wait...we're in 2011 not in 2006 now....".

Your post didn't really make "sense". Sure, I've eaten ducks in my life, but never dogs.

If you didn't understand what my point was, I was trying to say that a game's quality has nothing to do with its oldness which is what you were implying in your post. In other words, "old" doesn't mean "bad" and vice versa. Also, 10 years is old for a video game just as much as it is old for computers.

I have the PC version, somewhere. I was looking for my copy yesterday actually, but looks like I've misplaced it. Wish it would have come in a jewel case instead of the paper sleeve. The PC version didn't come out in 2001 though. I think it was 2003 or 2004, but I didn't get it at release either.

Also, I don't really consider Halo old either.
