Do you think Dragon Mounts is Possible for XboxPs3?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 9:51 pm

Lol I can't be the only one that when I heard skyrim had dragons imagined this scene:

You have climbed up to a very high ledge and are looking at the awesome that is skyrim. Suddenly you hear a roar below and look. A dragon is flying parallel to the mountain about 30 feet below your position and hasn't spotted you. As it comes to pass under your ledge you have 1 thought blocking out all others:

Challenge accepted.

I can't really see it happening, but at this point I no longer really care. I just bought an epic new laptop for a criminally low price last night, so I can use mods when it reaches my house.

I hope it won't come, i like flying and all. But a dragon mount? That is a bit too overpowered for me.

i really don't want to see this. it would ruin the game.

the dragons are the ultimate enemy in this game. being able to ride them would take that away. im sorry but i think it would be really stupid

You guys really don't want Dragon Mounts. You think you do, but you really don't. Here is why:

In Morrowind, yes a smaller map, I have a mod that I made, Travelers Essentials. Well, it contains a Jet Pack which is 100 points Levitate and Speed 100 points Constant Effect. I can fly around at will anywhere I want. I also play the game with the MGE and the FPS Optimizer, which means I can see from one side of the map to the other at altitude as it extends the rendered cells to the edge of the visible map.

So, not much different than a dragon in this game. However, the first time I went up in the sky with all these things active in Morrowind, I got hit in the face with how small the map really is. Walking around on the ground, the map is more than big enough. Flying across it at Dragon Like Speeds? Don't blink your eyes or you will miss both coasts.

The Skyrim Map is big enough for this game as you are walking around the ground and climbing up mountains. Get on a Dragon and you will be bored in about 3 minutes as you will have nowhere left to fly.

I don't understand why people oppose additions that they aren't being forced to utilize. If you don't want to fly a dragon, then you don't have to. But your personal hang ups and doubts about how it would preform shouldn't impede another persons gaming experience. I wouldn't fly one on an RP character, but I defiantly think it would be a [censored]load of fun on one of my [censored] characters. You are Dragonborn, after all.

From the comments I can see Dragon mounts would be to overpowered but other mounts would be cool, like a mammoth or a saber cat........or a small wagon pulled by a legion of bunnies....yeah that would be awesome.

Flying in Skyrim won't work without a total game overhaul due to the city interiors being in different cells. That's why there's no levitation or acrobatics. Last I saw the modders hadn't figure out how to make the dragon mounts fly just yet. Has that changed? Even if they do add it you won't be able to land in the cities without the mod for open cities and that certainly isn't going to happen on the consoles. Not sure why people are arguing for this here because it really wouldn't be a good thing simply due to how the game is put together.

come now the not landing in towns thing could easily be fixed in a way that could be interesting just make a type of barrier around a city if you fly to close in it you go to a loading screen and poof in side the town enemy dragons do this why cant we (although it could be cumbersome but eh if its really an issue park outside the city)

It's definitely not as simple as you think it is. There are also graphic issues to consider. Peak over a city wall if you need to see what I'm talking about. There's basically nothing in them but bare buildings and a few rooftops. That would look like total crap from the air. The other issue is that if you get only a little distance off the ground the draw distance limits kick in and everything disappears except the bare minimum. It's not going to be as cool as most of you are imagining it to be.

It's not like people are saying "We should not add anything!!!" People don't want these things to be implemented at the expense of something they'd rather have. At least how that's how I feel.

I agree, dragon mount would be really cool. But the game mechanics, graphics just would not work and I pretty sure it would ruin the experience in like 2 mins

Dragon Mount is the worst possible idea. For the PS3 it will be bad more memory problems, load and freezes.

This has been exactly my view all along. You think the game is too short in basic form? Try getting on one of those things and then finish the game in a few hours!

The only way, and I do mean probably the only way I could be remotely okay with this is if they made the whole experience very long and involving.

Crafting a proper saddle, maybe an item too needed to break said dragon, the breaking itself should be difficult and drawn out.

I don't want to mount a dragon. And yes, I know I wouldn't have to use it - I just really hope the devs are working on something else instead of this (not that I think they would add it anyway).

Maybe land dragon mounts but flying? Not only the computer will have to load one cell after another very quickly (technical limitation) but, as CCNA said, the world would feel very, very small.

I'd actually be on board with this, not as a means of obtaining mounts, but as a way of getting more dragons to submit to your will, and build an army. Imagine battling a dragon at Autumwatch Tower or Shearpoint, beating it down, and making it submit so that when you're in the area and fighting something, there's a chance your dragon servant that roosts nearby will come down and help you fight. I think that'd be pretty neat. I've mostly started using a certain shout when I come across a roadside thief or skooma dealer, just to make it clear that no one should mess with me.

I would be nice, but it will not work. Garrison64 explained it very well. It would be possible to something on an approach. Then just load yourself in the cell. (kind of like a cave entrance) But the visual from above would be horrid,
