Do you think the game will be overrun by people playing ligh

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 7:43 pm

I think there will be a fairly large number of players trying to be snipers early on, but I think they'll get bored quickly when they realise nobody's dropping from their headshots.

Shouldn't be a problem - only the devoted support snipers like me will stick with it and demonstrate how Brink sniping works.

Initially there will be a lot of lights. However, as your team fails because people can't defend/progress an objective that will change.

If they can't then they are doing it wrong.

Gizmo's plan for all those lights

1: Make a decoy (or heavy)
2: Get minigun
3: Kill lights (with Wraith and Devil causing havok behind the lines)
4: ?
5: Profit (or do evil laugh as its more commonly known)

well as you may know, snipers arent really effective in this game and Im sure eventually everyone will figure that out so it might not be as bad as you think

Oh they will be effective, just not the off 3 miles away on a hill. Area denial people.

I'm sure alot of people have said this already but, why WOULD they? Do they not know there are no OHK at all and sniping isn't really good in brink?

I'm sure a lot of them won't.

Many people buying new games learn that sort of thing the hard way.

I'm well aware of the limited OHK situation, but disagree that "sniping isn't really good" in brink, but I do expect to see many casual snipers try and fail before moving on to other roles or other games.

I, on the other hand, plan to make the most of my LR.

After about a month I don't think we'll see that many Snipers. From what we've seen and been told, Sniping will be a great way to die. Sniping requires an accurate, long range, and powerful weapon with a relatively safe spot that gives a view of the battlefield. Brink doesn't appear to offer any of that. Not to mention that Brink rewards players for being in proximity to each other and the maps are objective based, so being a Sniper won't really reward you like it does in MW2 or BFBC2.

I do think we'll see some players move into more of a Marksman role. They'll use the rifle in a support role, moving with the team, but hanging a little back to pick off other lights or assist in killing med/heavies. That said, I don't think we'll see too many of these because I doubt they'll earn as many points as the folks fighting directly on the front lines.

I will miss all those knife kills I got from Snipers in MW2 and BFBC2.

Nope, I'm planning on the being that fat soldier with a ton of health always standing near the objective with a shotgun :). I think people underestimate the heavy in its power if not how cool it is.
