you treat your women right?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:59 pm

well?

this is an issue i have with skyrim, i mean it just seems so unrealistic that you would get married to somebody when you have known them for a day.

my redguard trader has known ysolda for an in-game month -and a half now, and so far hes takeing her for a three cource meal at the drunken huntsman, 2 picnics out in the great plains, bought her a silver necklace, and he sees her everyday at the market and at night at the bannered mare,

for me the two people hve to at LEAST know eachother to an exstent....

(forgot he got the tusk for her aswell)

My Argonian wife married me right after we met, how could she not? The Dragonborn walks by, flaunting an amulet saying that she's on the market, then she walks up and ceremoniously asks you for a random fetch quest, implying that she's interested. I doubt anyone in Skyrim would turn down the Dragonborn especially when they offer to move you into Windhelm, after skinning Ulfric like a sabre cat cub. If you find a single Dovakiin you grab on and don't let go, or so that's what mom always used to say.

Plus my character is mostly in it for the uber hot Khajiit on Argonian lisbian orgies held bi-weekly in the secret love nest behind the bookcase.

The silver necklace is the cheapest piece of jewlery in the game, you skinflint.

What will you get her on her birthday?
A "ragged tunic"? An iron dagger you smithed yourself? An embalming tool?

I don't buy it you can get women to spend the night with you in the Bannered Mare like that.

I am always giving aela random crap like daggers and ingots, I once gave her a giant's toe. I take her to the eldergleam sanctuary once in a while and always share my loot with her (we take it in turns looting chests), not married her yet, trying to roleplay a bit

Almost everyone in Skyrim whom I marry, I marry briefly after meeting them.

But afterwards I let them set up shop, give them multiple houses, ask them to never leave my side, give them experiences of a lifetime through many adventures, and give them incredibly expensive equipment that I often smith myself.

The only exception was on my DB Vampire character, where I married Miuri just to have someone to feed upon and give me cash...but that's what a suave vampire would do. Convince someone to marry them for cash and benefits rather than love. :P

This is one reason why I tend to marry either Farkas or Vilkas: the marriage option for them only comes up after you've known them for quite some time and experienced emotional ups and downs in that time period. :)

From what I hear, every man in Skyrim has given Ysiolda the ol' "mammoth tusk" at one point or another. :hubbahubba:

lol

I find I much prefer the "wow, are you interested in me" from my regular blacksmith in Riften to the idea that in addition to having to save the world and save Skyrim and rebuild the thieves' guild while Vex just sits on her bum in the Ragged Flaggon flirting with Delvin and then sending him threatening notes that I'd have to also go on dates and be given flowers and stuffby a number of suitors. I mean, come on... Dovahkiin and savior and hottie to boot? I'd never get to hang out and play cards with my Housecarls!

"Love in Skyrim is as earnest as her people," Maramal says.

"'Aint that the truth of it," Julienne sighs. "Life is uncertain even at better times."

Her poor husband doesn't even know if she's gonna ever give him an heir at this point, being as she's always across the continent killing this thing or raiding that thing. He's older and gentle and patient, and on the nights when his young wife is home he's very glad he had the sense of mind to say, "Interested in me, are you?" when he saw her amulet before anyone else could and will never have words to express to his wife how pleased he was when he could admit he was very interested in her.

Sometimes marriage is just about the closeness of knowing someone cares when you get back.

besides... I shudder to think of the mods that will eventually let everyone roleplay the squishier side of marriage. ugh... ick. I enjoy that when I'm not pixels and designed to kill things, really. lol

I always wondered what the calipers in Oblivion were for.

I took Aranea Iienith on holiday to the Azura shrine occasionally. We stayed in her tent.

Sometimes I like to wear the amulet during general questing so I can pretend it's a Bioware game. It's weird having bearded one eyed mercs go gooey eyed over your male nord.

I think the priestess in the Temple of Mara explains to you why Skyrim marriages are so quick. Something like "life is hard and brutal in Skyrim", yada, yada, yada. So people don't waste time before getting married.

milk came out my nose when I read this. And quite coincidentally, I'm eating cornflakes
I've got to admit Vex intrigues me the most of all the people in the TG. Who is this mysterious Imperial? Why isn't she interested in being married? Why doesn't she have any believable backstory like Sapphire does? Is she an Empire spy for the Dominion? etc. etc.

I think marriage (and Vex's mysterious lack of a love life) would make for some good side quests in a DLC

I do believe there is a back story there - it may be one of those things that were not finished before game release ...
Spoiler
I happened upon a relatively interesting thing in a mead hall somewhere, where there is an extremely depressed alcoholic chap who goes on about his 'love' who ran off with someone called 'Vex' ... you can ask around a bit about it, but no quest becomes active, so I don't know ... maybe his love is Vex, who knows!

If you do the TG questline, at one point it's suggested that Vex and whoever the meathead is guarding Mercer's house were "involved." Then there's what Psymer said above me. It would seem she is quite popular with the men of Skyrim.

It is a quest, it's just non-journal.
I tracked that woman down, and found her. Vex pointed me towards a snow cavern with riches. I went there and... found her dead and naked.
It was a Necromancer lair.

Afterwards I went back to the drunkard and told him, resulting in me getting a little bit reward. :run:

Hey, I gave Muiri a full set of embalming tools and a torture kit. She loved it!

Well Delvin has http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:A_Warning. There's also a bit of conversation between them when Delvin asks if she can see the two of them together. She says yes; he'll be in his grave, and she'll be standing over it. I think she's just playing hard to get.

Why anyone would like that cranky [censored] is beyond me.

I had to stop going to the Ragged Flagon. It was too infuriating to be the only one in the guild actually working and yet Delvin, Vex and everyone else still treat you like something sticky they got on their shoe.

It's worse being Guildmaster and still getting treated like that. Sure, they all congratulate you when you get the job, but only once. After that, back to being the "new guy", with half a dozen people hanging around the cistern and I'm still the only one working.

Tell me about it. That guy Durge (I think that's his name) is such a dike! Never has anything nice to say.

And I treat my woman right! lol
I switched out Lydia's steel armor with some Legendary Forsworn armor, some legendary hide bracers, and some Legendary leather boots. And then equipped her with an ebony great sword (less bulky on her back than a bow and arrows and she won't have a shield with a two handed weapon) Now she is easily the sixiest chic in the game!

I parade her around like a trophy wife!! And I even gave her the wedding ring I got from the witch in the "A Night To Remember" quest.

No no, his love ran away with Vex and the depressed guy, I think, believes that Vex is a guy, which made me think that maybe Vex isn't interested in guys... hahahaha

But yes, I don't jump lightly into marriage. I first have to take the guys out on some adventures, check out their personalities  Now, for some reason, my Nord, Brigid Keltinga, was immediately smitten with Vorstag. What a cutie! Love the voice and OMG have you seen his biceps? They also share the same tattoo! So, yea, love at first sight hahahaha They got married as soon as she bought the house in Whiterun! LOL

Only one guy would do for my Imperial Diana Artorius - Good looking, smart, a bit stuck up, but still willing to help out around the house and in tombs... Marcurio!

Now Morigana will have none of this nonsense. She likes it best when she's by herself (why can't these housecarls just move into their own rooms? *grumble* - Dawnstar Sanctuary FTW) or when she is concealed in shadows, ready to strike down the next enemy!
